Beanstone
Beanstone.pngBeanstone sprite from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions
Description
"A Soybean civilization jewel."
First appearance Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (2003)
Latest appearance Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions (2017)

Beanstone are items that Mario and Luigi find in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. They are the treasures of the ancient and long-forgotten Soybean civilization. They start to appear in pre-selected spots of Beanbean Castle Town after talking to a Beanbean scholar who happens to be Fava's brother. If all ten of them are collected and given to the scholar, he will give Mario and Luigi a Bros. Rock badge. After the second invasion of Beanbean Castle Town caused by Bowletta, this sidequest becomes permanently missable.

Beanstones can be located by using Mini Mario and watching for an exclamation mark (!) in a pulsating, rounded speech bubble above Mario's head, which pulsates more rapidly when closer to the Beanstone location, and changes to a spiked speech bubble when directly over it. The Beanstone can then be obtained by using the Dunk Hammer to dig and then immediately resurface.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, Beanstones flash multiple different colors when collected, though they are always green when in the inventory.
