The game takes place in a desert, and the three team players try to climb a sandy slope, while the other player controls a machine that can fling [[boulder]]s at them in an attempt to block their path. If squished by a boulder, a player is stunned and slides down the hill. If one of the team players reaches the top of the hill, they all win, but if the solo player manages to keep the team players from going on top of the hill, that player wins. In ''Mario Party Superstars'', the physics for the team of three are more slippery and realistic.
