Stone Chomps are a variety of Chain Chomps that live within the borders of Dry Dry Ruins during the events of Paper Mario. They guard artifacts within the temple and attack Mario when he takes an artifact. They surprise him by falling off the ceiling or jumping out of a wall design. It is said that they are not actual Chain Chomps, but magically animated Chomp Rocks that are built to honor Chain Chomps. Lending validity to this claim is the fact that there are indeed many Chomp Rocks in and around Dry Dry Ruins.
