Fruit or Foe is a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party: Star Rush. It is one of the only two-luck based minigames in this game, along with Haunted Hallways.

Overview

In the introduction, the camera pans through all five houses, then zooms in to four Shy Guys, each carrying different amounts of apples on a basket on their heads. They then run off to the houses off-screen. The players walk in as the camera pans up to see the doors of each house; open a bit. The doors then close shortly afterwards.

Before the game starts, the turn order is determined randomly. For the first round, the order is the one chosen at the beginning. For the second round, the order is in reverse.

Across two rounds, players must try to guess which house out of five contains the most apples. Each house, when highlighted, may bounce around in a different way. Once a player has chosen a house, they run up to it and knock on the door a few times. After this, the house may bounce around again before the door opens entirely. If a Shy Guy exits the house, apples are given to the player. Players are awarded with one, three, or five apples. If a Chain Chomp exits the house, the player does not receive any apples at all. Players cannot choose a house that has already been opened. The process repeats for the second round.

After both rounds end, whichever player has the most points wins.
