Firstly, why are "Home computer system" and "PC" separated? It needlessly splits the optical disc and floppy disk formats into two groups even though the two formats are for the same platform. If the rationale is "there are home computer systems that are not typically classified as PC", it doesn't work because the Macintosh release of ''Mario is Missing!'' is on floppy disks, a format classified under "PC". I think we should merge the two groups into "Home computer system".

Speaking of floppy disks, do we really need to distinguish between "3.5″ floppy disk" and "5.25″ floppy disk"? This seems too specific to me, especially considering that the "Optical disc" parameter has a very broad name rather than a more specific name such as "CD-ROM". It's also a pain when you know that a specific PC game is on floppies but you don't know which size of floppy or whether there exist versions for both sizes. A singular "Floppy disk" parameter would be more convenient.

And lastly, why does the parameter "Optical disc" has the code <code>dos</code>? Some MS-DOS games such as ''[[Super Mario Bros. Print World]]'' were released only on floppy disks, and other games such as ''[[Mario's FUNdamentals]]'' were released on CD-ROM for Windows and Mac. {{User:Jdtendo/sig}} 06:23, July 30, 2024 (EDT)

Computer format parameters[edit]

I have a few gripes with the current computer format parameters.

{{format|dos=1|smfloppy=1|lgfloppy=1}}

Home computer system:
Optical disc icon for use in templates. Optical disc
PC:
A 3.5" floppy disk, specifically that of Super Mario Bros. Print World 3.5" floppy disk
A 5.25" floppy disk, specifically that of Super Mario Bros. Print World 5.25" floppy disk

Firstly, why are "Home computer system" and "PC" separated? It needlessly splits the optical disc and floppy disk formats into two groups even though the two formats are for the same platform. If the rationale is "there are home computer systems that are not typically classified as PC", it doesn't work because the Macintosh release of Mario is Missing! is on floppy disks, a format classified under "PC".

And lastly, why does the parameter "Optical disc" has the code dos? Some MS-DOS games such as Super Mario Bros. Print World were released only on floppy disks, and other games such as Mario's FUNdamentals were released on CD-ROM for Windows and Mac. Jdtendo(T|C) 06:23, July 30, 2024 (EDT)
