First appearance Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (1992)
Latest appearance Mario vs. Wario (1993)

The Witch[1][2] is a boss in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. She is the boss of Pumpkin Zone, and the Witch can be found flying in the Pumpkin Zone sky on her broom. The Witch battles out with Mario in her kitchen, where she teleports around the room and casts fire bolts with her wand. Some of these fire bolts fall down under the pots that stands in the middle of her kitchen and boils them so much that the lids on them fly high up in the air. If Mario stands on these pots, they will propel him into the spikes above. The Witch is defeated after being stomped three times or from six fireballs. The Witch also appears as a "nothing" icon in the slot machine game of the optional casino area; if it is landed on, she will stick out her tongue, and taunt Mario.

The Witch reappears in the Mario vs. Wario comic. She starts by shooting fireballs at Mario. He ducks the flames and they hit the Big Bird, who was in the nearby bush. She then launches her lids at Mario. He then jumps over the lids and lands on them, getting them stuck to his shoes but also allowing him to walk on water. He walks across a lake and "thanks" the Witch for her "help".

The Witch has similarities to the collector, and is depicted as another form of that character in the Kodansha adaptation.[3] The Witch is also a character in volume 8 of Super Mario-kun, where she transforms Mario into a pig, and the Witch also attempts to collide two flying pot lids to harm Mario and his friends. With the help of a Boo, Mario uses the Witch's wand to transform her into a fish.
