Chunks of ice[1] are spiked ball-like obstacles commonly encountered in snowy settings.
History[edit]
New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]
In New Super Mario Bros. 2, chunks of ice, referred to in the game's Prima guide as boulders,[2] appear exclusively in World 4-1. They behave identically to normal spiked balls and large spiked balls, respectively, but fit within the snow theme. They can only be destroyed by Gold Mario and Silver Luigi.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze[edit]
In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its port, Skowl, the Startling uses chunks of ice during the first phase of his battle. While flying above one end of the main platform, Skowl creates spiked chunks of ice and throws them at the other end. Upon landing, they start rolling slowly across the platform. They are indestructible and can damage the Kongs on contact, but can be safely bounced on with Cranky Kong's cane.
Yoshi's Woolly World / Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World[edit]
Chunks of ice are summoned by Snifberg the Unfeeling in Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. They roll down towards the Yoshi, damaging him upon contact. They cannot be destroyed.
