I take your point, and obviously no, that's more a trivia point. However, in the case of Snowman Doll, I feel the first point was fine in the introduction of the article. Reading it, for me, it didn't feel tacked on, as for the other point, reading it again I don't even feel it qualifies for trivia. Generically named item shares name with other generically named item doesn't feel right to me. {{User|Yoshi876}}

RE:Oxford Comma

I've been taught that the Oxford Comma is to be used when separating subjects in a list, otherwise the final two subjects will appear to be one or connected. For example:

  • "My grocery list today consists of buying milk, eggs and bread."

"eggs and bread" isn't a singular object. Therefore, a comma is used to separate them:

  • "My grocery list today consists of buying milk, eggs, and bread."

Much better. Likewise, "Electrodrome, Twisted Mansion, Mount Wario and Bowser's Castle" makes it sounds like a singular race between the later two locations. I don't see this type of comma as "optional" or even "confusing". It's fairly common grammar that I learned back in first grade and I don't get why people seem to see it as unnecessary. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:24, 19 January 2017 (EST)

"especially on a website that mostly cares about the basics of English grammar"
This is basic grammar as far as I can tell. Yes, I get that common sense plays a part in noticing whether two of the subjects on a list are different, but that it isn't the point. And in some cases, it can be difficult. A comma is meant to either separate words on a list or mark a conjointment of certain sentences, like right here, in the previous sentence, or in the following one (hey look, another list!). I, honestly, never heard of lists not using the Oxford Comma until I joined this wiki, where it seems people neglect using it regularly...
I'm not trying to sound harsh, and none of this is really directed at you. I'm merely just trying to get my point across. I really, truly do not get why people intentionally neglect to do something as simple as punctuate properly. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:47, 19 January 2017 (EST)
I see nothing in the link you provided that I didn't already know. For example, "To my parents, Ayn Rand, and God." is a list and "They went to Oregon with Betty, a maid and a cook." is not. I get how this could be confusing, but in this edit's case, it is a list and should be punctuated as such. I'm sorry this led to an unwanted and confusing argument, but I believe I made the right call. Let's just drop this, please, before this gets even more out of hand... Replacement Mistake

File:MGAT Donkey Kong Birdie.png doesn't replace File:GeneBirdie.jpg. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:31, 22 January 2017 (EST)

But they both appear in the game so they both deserve to be mentioned for Birdie (and similar articles for golf scoring, such as Par, Bogey, and Eagle). Since I mentioned those other articles, there are also JPEGs of the Mario Golf: Advance Tour sections. Please replace those as well if you can. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:11, 22 January 2017 (EST)
Although I agree that a sampling is sufficient, the impressions other people are giving me in general, we cover everything image-wise. Anyways, the only thing I am requesting is getting the JPEGs already uploaded replaced with proper dimensioned PNG screenshots. Hopefully the other screenshots come later. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:16, 22 January 2017 (EST)

If you can link to the forum post within {{delete}} of File:GeneBirdie.jpg, that would be nice. Saw the history edit on Birdie. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:05, 1 February 2017 (EST)

In-game hypothesis

Hi. I'd like to know what you think about assertions made by in-game characters. Specifically, if a characters says thing like "perhaps it was x's influence that led y into z" (like Template:Media link), would that count as useful information on y's article? --A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 22:09, 3 February 2017 (EST)

Rat Trap information

Looks like you forgot to add the rest of it. It cuts off abruptly at the end of the article. – Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 16:53, 22 February 2017 (EST)

MPA Image Replacements

I was just browsing some old maintenance pages and stumbled across this. Can you replace the non-redlinked images some time please? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 02:27, 24 February 2017 (EST)

Good work! Keep going until you finish all of RAP (talk)'s logged images for MPA! --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:54, 24 February 2017 (EST)
File:MPAjunk.jpg, unless that can just be deleted too and there is no use for it. File:Magic Lamp.PNG, we can be sure now the quality is at its best. File:MPA_Luigi.jpg, I'm not expecting to get that replaced any time soon. My main concern is screenshots/sprites/3Drenders because we can get those fixed at any time. Again, nice work. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:07, 24 February 2017 (EST)

MPAhammer Image

I feel like the MPAhammer image you just replaced should, I don't know, show the actual hammer. Otherwise, the The Hammer article isn't showing what it's talking about too well. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:39, 2 March 2017 (EST)

Questions from the Prima guide

Hello! I'm back to ask you some more questions about things from DKCTF.

  • A while ago, I asked you what is the official name for the penguins that bounce on elastic things. You said I wasn't very clear with my request. Well, now that I created a detailed page for them, and called them Bouncy Tuckses, I would like to request you one more time to look up the guide and see how they are referred to. They are very very common in a level called Jelly Jamboree, but I can't recall whether they're necessary to find secrets.
  • In a level called Shoal Atoll, your mission is to find five multicolored keys, one after the other. They are found in differently colored chests which can only be opened with keys that have the same color. They are basically the main quest of the level and I strongly believe they are mentioned in the guide. Do these keys, as well as their chests, have special names, other than generic "red key" - "red chest", "green key" - "green chest" etc.? I've left a number of images of the keys here to help you orient.

Also, can you please hand me the page numbers for the sources? Speaking of which, can you provide one for the source here?

Honestly, sometimes I wonder if I actually nag you periodically with tons of questions. Why can't I make a whole list of questions and ask you everything I need to know directly? I'm very messy so please excuse me. I feel like I am bothersome and repetitive... so let me ask you something that is not linked to DKCTF!

I think I saw somewhere that you also own the Wario Land Shake It PRIMA guide, am I correct? If yes, I would like a name for those devices in Bad Manor which turn you small. Pretty please!

Thank you so very much, and again sorry if I am persistent - just let me know if there's trouble. Also, I should stop stretching my messages all over with so many paragraphs. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 08:09, 5 April 2017 (EDT)

I discovered here that those devices in WLSI are called "Mini Barrels". Is this correct?

Donkey Kong Country GBA Save

Do you have a complete save (*.sps GameShark save or *.sav raw save) for said game in header for use in emulators? Many images in Category:Donkey Kong Country (GBA) Images need replacing. You submitted many scrapbook images in 2015 and I think that is only available for a complete game so that is why I ask. If not 101% completion, I'll take any completion level. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:38, 14 April 2017 (EDT)

Those are SNES saves! Looking for GBA saves. Seems to be a bug with importing: [1]. The save on the site seems to be for Space Channel 5 for GBA testing it with VBA-M, old version and new version. Maybe the save works on a real GameShark and copy of DKC 1-3. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:07, 30 April 2017 (EDT)

Re:Banzai Bill

I've started working on expanding sections, until New Super Mario Bros. U, where I've pretty much detailed all of their level appearances and how they appear in the level. I know it's not done yet, but is that more ideal than it was before? BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 21:29, 16 May 2017 (EDT)

No really, thank for the criticism. It's pretty much what I need to know in order to become a better writer at this. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 22:42, 16 May 2017 (EDT)

Hi!

I saw your message on the Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D talk page, where you express that you aren't sure if the names of various enemies from the game are official. Don't worry, I took care of that. All enemies you listed there are now cited from the DKCR Prima guide, which I own. Therefore, you can contribute with additional information you found in the DKCR3D Prima guide at peace. What other enemies have you found to have different names in the latter Prima guide? Any info on Vine Chomp, Shroom Chomp, Spore Chomp etc.? (These are supposedly fan-made - taken from DK Vine - as there is no sign of these names in the guide.) -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

Ah, yes, this just confirms that the DKCR3D Prima guide is just a revised version of the DKCR guide. I mean, it contains the same description for the Chomps. Anyway, thank you for answering! I was afraid you got fed up with my questions, since you haven't yet responded to my previous one, and I did not have the audacity to beg you to answer. But I take it's all cool? With that being said, I shall keep myself a wee bit more organised and come with questions at the right time, as I promised last time. I don't want to stress anybody! -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE
No need to worry, pal! It's not like you have a duty to carry out for me. You have helped me a lot and, again, I must excuse myself for being so persistent. By the way, you can go check on the new articles I wrote! Those about DKCTF, you know... -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

Wario World question

Do you know if those bird-like objects that whip up windstorms in Pecan Sands have a name? We don't have an article on them yet, but the Wario Palace article is currently calling them "Sandstorms", which, from what I can tell, is a conjectural name.

Do you have any other Prima Guides (digital or physical)?

Could you skip through them to see if any of them have any them have any screenshots that look prerelease (from non-final version/s)? Or maybe let me borrow your Prima account (my email is david5525879@gmail.com) :P. Its because the digital 3D World guide has some prerelease screenshots on one of the preview pages, but I didn't want to buy it just to look at the other pages (and the publicly-available URLs for the images don't seem to follow a patter). --Hiccup (talk) 09:34, 8 July 2017 (EDT)

I was more thinking of screenshots. Does the eGuide have any differences to the physical one? I've got the screenshots I know to be prerelease from the eGuide preview, so I may not need any more, if the eGuide is the same as the physical guide. I will remove the link to the physical guide once you are done with it. --Hiccup (talk) 05:48, 10 July 2017 (EDT)

RE: Page Categories

Alright, never heard or seen anything about that before, but I'll keep it in mind from now on. I'll go and fix all of my pages then, because I think I kept the same order of categories- it shouldn't take long. BBQ Turtle (talk) 16:59, 10 July 2017 (EDT)

MiM Music and Article Creation

A short while ago, I uploaded tracks found in Mario is Missing! for SNES, here. For future article creation and for the ones you created for that game, why not embed the music tracks into the articles? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:54, 11 July 2017 (EDT)

Well, at least you have access to the SNES music. You say MIDI? You want to know how I converted? Winamp or XMPlay, making sure to have a MIDI input plugin (for SNES, it was a special SNES music audio plugin), select output as WAV writer (works best if you use the playlist feature of the programs), and use Audacity to batch convert the WAVs to OGG (use the apply chain feature to perform the batch convert). As for linking to the audio tracks, you can do both the media page ({{main-media}}) and link the individual tracks to each page (see List of Super Mario 64 media for a complete library of Super Mario 64 and Endless Stairs for an example of a good way to link to the same music track File:SM64-Looping Steps.oga). I would recommend linking to the files first before uploading. Generates redlinks to make uploading a cinch. For further help with these kind of files, see Help:Media. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:46, 11 July 2017 (EDT)
I mean you have access to the SNES music because I provided it. As for the TTYD music tracks, I don't think those people were aware of the files or know we are seeking them. That's why I revived {{more media}} and used it on these pages, which is now a maintenance category. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 00:33, 12 July 2017 (EDT)
List of Mario's Time Machine media, it should be linked at Mario's Time Machine#Media. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:36, 12 July 2017 (EDT)
I fail to see the problem. For each pair of locations, link to the same file. For example, Philadelphia and Calcutta would get File:MTM SNES Philadelphia, 1776 AD.oga. The file names are based on the source where I got the ROM extractions. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:12, 12 July 2017 (EDT)
That doesn't make any sense. If linking, it would give information on what music plays during the level. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:23, 12 July 2017 (EDT)
I would ask for clarification and maybe even have him review if it would be a good idea to proceed anyways, given the argument I gave about what music plays during the level. Additionally, it could bring more awareness about audio files being sought, in general, if any music file is linked to level pages, like Super Mario World for example. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:28, 12 July 2017 (EDT)
Yeah, but only on my talk page, once. I think there was just some interpretation issues. Let's set the record straight by asking him about this whole mess. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 00:02, 13 July 2017 (EDT)
Looks like Shokora approves of my reasoning and you can link to an audio file on more than one level page. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 04:08, 13 July 2017 (EDT)

Before you just give up and have someone else do it, what kind of errors? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:52, 14 July 2017 (EDT)

I think an unmodified loop-less conversion is best. The fadeout is recommended for tracks that loop and is hard to control for. I don't think the MIDI tracks of the PC/DOS game were designed to loop so it might have a forced option. This is untrue with console games, for the most part. Use a MIDI plug-in and WAV writer. When the sound out mode is changed to WAV writer, it outputs to a file instead of the speakers. That's how things are programmed and it makes sense from a programmer's perspective. There is an OGG writer option, but I haven't gotten it to work. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:35, 14 July 2017 (EDT)
It helps to insert {{media table}} first before uploading OGGs. That way, you click the redlink and the destination file name is specified for you. Saves from the hassle of moving. Not many people know that trick apparently and go directly to Special:Upload instead. I use the redlink trick all the time. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:52, 14 July 2017 (EDT)
You are more experienced with those games. You determine what's wrong with my specifics. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:24, 15 July 2017 (EDT)

To make things easier, why not just upload all the MIDI to OGG audio at once for List of Mario's Time Machine media? That's what I did for various SNES games (which was my experimental phase of using {{media table}} and {{main-media}}). Now other users have a library to reference from and link to specific audio files, for use on other articles, such as for levels, objects, and other things. For example, List of Super Mario World media used the P Switch music, so I linked the audio file in both those articles. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 14:56, 13 August 2017 (EDT)

OK, kind of late now, but for anything else with zero media uploads. Like say for List of Mario is Missing! media, upload the MIDIs for that PC/DOS game at once. This is where the redlink trick really shines when using {{media table}}. I middle-wheel-click the redlink, which opens a new tab or window (based on browser preferences). You can expand the trick even further if you use Notepad++ and understand RegEx and Windows CMD. Once I got CMD looking at the folder containing the music tracks, I used the command dir /B > list.txt, which instead of outputting to the CMD window, it outputs a text file in the same directory as the folder being used in CMD. That's how I created so many list pages within a few days. My method really removed a lot of tedium. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:48, 13 August 2017 (EDT)
Are there templates for other things found in Special:Interwiki, aside from Wikipedia and {{wp}}, especially NIWA-related things? I find it inconsistent if Wikipedia is the only Interwiki link getting a template associated with it. We also have {{wikipedia}}. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:07, 14 August 2017 (EDT)
I find value in {{wikipedia}}, because it's a little bit more eye-catching than {{wp}}, kind of like {{NIWA}}. If you feel that {{wikipedia}} should be discontinued/abandoned/deleted, propose it. Also, keep in mind where it is transcluded. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:18, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

Wario picture

I don't know if there's a better quality version, as the only areas I saw this was on a merchandise box, but as of now, I don't think this quality is acceptable enough to not be tagged with it. Also, I'm not even the current uploader, I just reverted it to an earlier revision. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C) 19:53, 12 July 2017 (EDT)

One thing that makes this replacement harder is not knowing where the image came from. The closest match is File:Wario and Waluigi - MKDD.png, which makes me think that the upload is derivative work. I can't find the picture in the MKDS instruction manual, but I checked MKDD instruction manual. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 14:46, 18 July 2017 (EDT)

Sorry, I haven't been active for a while, and I didn't even know you intended for me to reply. I see that you have a strong opinion about this, and I do too. If you think that Prima is a valid source, that's fine. I will stop repeating that it's not. But I don't think that an article should be titled after a placeholder in a third-party strategy guide. Names

Hello! I just dropped in to ask you if you could please add page numbers to the DKCTF articles. Here they are. Only when you have the time, I suppose you're currently busy researching historical figures and places for those "Mario's Time Machine" articles, which, I have to say, look very nice and I am a big fan of. Have a nice day! -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

Thank you for adding page numbers and also for the quick lesson. I know I needed it because I was pretty confused with categories, but was never interested in reading a related guideline. You really like to take your time with other people and your work, and that I can only appreciate. I guess your name derived from that, maybe subconsciously, who knows? -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE
Oh boy, that just goes to show how much of a Harry Potter fan I am... I suppose it's the Harry Potter universe we're talking about, right?
Welp, it's like they say to motivate people: we learn a new thing every day!

I'm sorry for you having to keep that on your subpage for so long - from the tone you used, I surmise it's quite irritating -, but I didn't actually make articles for all of the things listed there. Truth is, some of them are waaay to generic to consider covering them here. Like the Giant Underwater Fan, for example, which I think could very well get a passing mention in this article. And why would Snowflake Shield, another example, take precedence over the many other destructible walls in the DKC games? I suppose the thunderbolt could have its own article since it was also an obstacle in DKC3. And I thought to include Decaying Vine and Flaming Vine in the already existing vine article, but this particular type of vine is actually the beanstalk from the Mario series. What do you think I should do? -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

By the way. I put the Prima source for Watermelon Fuse Bomb, Water Sack, and Zip-Line Vine since I forgot to. Are the page numbers correct?

I redirected Jelly Block and Giant Underwater Fan to the levels they appear in. They're one-shot and very generic anyway. I did a similar thing with Fire Floor. I'm planning on making full pages for Snowflake Shield and Spring Platform, then I'll be officially done with the Objects & Platforms list, so you can remove that for once. I am still not sure how to incorporate Decaying Vine and Flaming Vine into the wiki - as I said, they'd be good in a "Vine" article, but aside from DK information, such an article would also include the vines from the Forest worlds of Paper Mario, NSMBWii, NSMB2, and so on so forth. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

Yeah, I guess so. They're climbable, just like beanstalks, after all. I'll add information, but later. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

I wrote articles for Spring Platform and Snowflake Shield, now it's alright to take off that list of Objects & Platforms in your subpage. I have one more request for you; could you please look up the Prima guide and add sources for Bouncelisk and Bucky? Never mind, I added them, since I thought they might appear alongside Buffaloafer on the same page in the guide. But would you be so kind as to verify the source at least? Thank you. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

RE:Feathers

In both cases, it's best to just use the {{about}} template to convey specific alternate terms, and quite possibly add them to the appropriate disambiguation page as well. Game identifiers should only be used if the two things sharing the exact same name also are the same type of thing, thus why policy favors type identifiers first. If you're still confused, I suggest bringing up the matter with Porplemontage. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 20:13, 28 July 2017 (EDT)

Alright, I think it's a matter to be brought up with Porplemontage. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 11:16, 29 July 2017 (EDT)
Because he's the proprietor, and therefore might have some additional pointers for us, as well as some things Mario jc may have missed. Plus, I just want to make sure that the titles get his approval so that we can move on from this discussion. Ultra Shroom edit

It's been done all the time. What bothers you about this one? And plus, saying Mario RPG, Mario & Luigi series, and Paper Mario series is very wordy. It's better to say "all of the Mario RPGs". Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:23, 28 July 2017 (EDT)

OK, but still, glued links have been found everywhere on the wiki, and no, I didn't remove Mario RPG's link. I don't quite understand what you're saying here. And plus, saying what I said before, saying Mario RPG, Mario & Luigi series, and Paper Mario series is just too wordy. It's just better to say "all of the Mario RPGs". Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:27, 28 July 2017 (EDT)

OK, I'm starting to understand what you're saying. But don't bring the conversation to my past deeds, because I don't like that. And still, besides the links, just saying "all of the Mario RPGs" is less wordy. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:30, 28 July 2017 (EDT)

Fine, here you go. And plus, will you stop saying "you were already told not to do this"? I get that. You've said that enough times for me to understand. I get it, I was told not to do that. But I'm just trying to bring up a valid point. No need to be hostile. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:33, 28 July 2017 (EDT)

OK, I'm sorry. I am learning from my previous mistakes, at least when I'm not forgetting them. Just don't rub it in my face too much, OK? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:35, 28 July 2017 (EDT)

OK, I will. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings--I really am, because I don't want people to get riled up because of me. I just don't like it when people say "you were told not to do this" too much. But you have my word, I'll heed your advice, and anyone else who's experienced and knows better than me. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:44, 28 July 2017 (EDT)

Argh, the Internet is such a hard place to communicate at times. It's harder to tell how people are feeling. And plus, at its worst, the whole place stinks of toddlers who don't have a life. The hard part is, we all get dragged into the mess if we're not careful. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 21:03, 28 July 2017 (EDT)

Admins are awesome

You look like the perfect guy to be promoted to administrator. How have you not been promoted yet? You're a really invaluable person on the wiki. I think I should know the answer, but still, you're just fit for the job. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:08, 29 July 2017 (EDT)

Yeah, that's true. Still though, it's a pity you haven't been promoted yet. You're one of the "regulars", you know, the guys who aren't on the staff, but still maintain a large presence of their own anyways. I like to consider myself one too, though I may need to get better at what I'm doing here. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:15, 29 July 2017 (EDT)

All right, that's true. If you wonder about me, I just want to contribute a lot of work. My individual goal is to become an admin, but that's just a second goal and not my main one. Keep up that work ethic. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:25, 29 July 2017 (EDT)

E. Gadd

Technically he's playable in Super Mario Maker as a costume. Would that count? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:19, 29 July 2017 (EDT)

Yeah, aside from his planned playability for Mario Kart DS, that's the only role I can find that someone confused with playable. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:24, 29 July 2017 (EDT)

"The Cards template is pointless."

Are you going to make a running gag out of that? Just curious, since I find it funny that you say that repeatedly on your edits recently. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 18:29, 30 July 2017 (EDT)

I know. But still, it's kind of funny to see, because it's like you're trying to make a running gag. I've also seen you do that many times before. At least it's efficient and time-saving. That sort of stuff promotes work ethic right there. Keep up the load. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 18:33, 30 July 2017 (EDT)

Re: Species

I'd say to leave most plants out of species categories, since they usually fit other categories better (e.g. Fire Flowers are items, Beanstalks are objects). Though I can think of a few exceptions (see: Egg-Plant). Niiue (talk) 20:07, 31 July 2017 (EDT)

A proposal sounds good to me. Niiue (talk) 20:14, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
I'll make it, then. Niiue (talk) 20:20, 31 July 2017 (EDT)

I mean, if something appears as both an enemy and a non-hostile species, it'd just get both categories. See: Piranha Plants having both enemy and item categories. Niiue (talk) 19:58, 1 August 2017 (EDT)

RE:Old Names

MarioWiki:Naming#Name changes might give you what you are looking for. Says certain exceptions can be made, but also says current names should be used in articles. I believe it's referring to the character article itself, i.e. Blooper and not "Bloober", but in game articles, we usually go with what the enemy was called then. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:10, 31 July 2017 (EDT)

Maybe this is more of a best judgement thing. I'll do more looking when I have access to my computer later, where it's easier for me to navigate. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:32, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
I found something you might want to take a look at. There was a proposal about this before, suggesting we use the older names when historically accurate, and it passed and is currently in effect as far as I can tell. This is more of a case of accuracy than it is policy. If you feel like rectifying that proposal, then go ahead, but it's about as official as I can find. Humanoid Dinosaur

By taxonomic definition, the Dinohattan Humans are both Humans and Dinosaurs, just as "real-world" Humans are both Humans and Ape, and Birds qualify as Dinosaurs, because by said current taxonomic standards, evolving from something does not exclude said evolution from the original category. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:18, 1 August 2017 (CT)

Opinionated Koopa Taxonomy Nightmare

I rewrote several sections to remove things such as "the most well known" and "bizarre" and other such opinions. On a side note, I find it hilarious it called a Koopa that looks like a sea turtle to be "bizarre-looking," since it's saying that a turtle looking like a turtle is weirder than a turtle looking like an ox or mole. Might BJAODN that, maybe. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:18, 2 August 2017 (CT)

Bowser voice clips

Who voiced Bowser in the Nintendo 64, early GameCube games, and some rare DS games? It never says in any of the wiki's articles. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 00:17, 3 August 2017 (EDT)

So are you telling me that the wiki has no idea who provided those weird growls and roars for Bowser in the 1990s, and how Bowser is able to speak in the first five Mario Parties? I guess Nintendo has never revealed them. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 00:29, 3 August 2017 (EDT)

I don't put colons in discussions because I don't want the indentations to be too deep. I just like to keep it simple. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 15:52, 3 August 2017 (EDT)

You do have a point, you know, but I try to keep it simple, and I'm also trying to answer every prompt directed at me, so putting my comments the way I do lets everyone see it, and it makes for a more connected and group discussion, since I'm telling it to everyone. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:05, 3 August 2017 (EDT)\

Yeah, you're right, but I don't want to make it to a point where my indentations go too deep. It's just me, is all. I just reset the bar, and it goes from there. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:13, 3 August 2017 (EDT)

Uploading Music Clips

Hi, I wanted to upload the music for the Galaxy Colosseum course from MKWii, but I have no idea how to make oga files and the process seems way too complicated for me since I've never used any of the programs mentioned. I came to you because you seem to have a lot of experience with those things. If you could somehow upload it for me, that would be cool. But if you can't or don't want to, that's completely fine. Thanks! LuigiMaster123's signature icon. LuigiMaster123 12:28, 5 August 2017 (EDT)

RE:Wikipedia

Ah, thanks for giving me the clarification, I didn't know there was a difference in the naming. I normally just say "wiki" anyway when I'm talking about it, as it's quicker to type than "wikipedia". The site is part of Gamepedia, however. Thanks for letting me know that, I'll change it in relevant places. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:24, 7 August 2017 (EDT)

Re: Rocky Wrench

Just added more info to the proposal. Niiue (talk) 21:03, 7 August 2017 (EDT)

Re: Species

Yeah, if you want to help, go ahead. Niiue (talk) 15:57, 9 August 2017 (EDT)

Yeah, I was actually wondering what should be done with the Human page. I guess it's sort of an exception to the species rule, since it's basically a given that humans appear in every game. Niiue (talk) 16:26, 9 August 2017 (EDT)
Fair enough. I'll go with your idea, then. Niiue (talk) 16:47, 9 August 2017 (EDT)

RE:Deleting redirects

The wiki still has to be cleansed of template redirects, and "they link to discussions" doesn't seem to be an excuse. There are in fact plenty of older discussions with broken links. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:47, 12 August 2017 (EDT)

On a side note, when pages get deleted, some, if not all, of the original code is preserved in the deletion log, which I use to find the right page. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:54, 12 August 2017 (EDT)

Poison Effects

Technically Goobles do have poisonous effects, as standing in the gunk they create for too long will sap Mario's health away, like poison. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:13, 14 August 2017 (CT)

Re:Yoshi's Story

I'm familiar with it - I've had the Nintendo Power guide, and recently got my hands on the Shogakukan one for good measure (I haven't gotten around to adding anything else from it yet, but it'll at least affect the rest of the Shy Guy articles). The Prima guide could have names that the Nintendo Power guide lacks, but from what I can tell, it's from their unlicensed period. I'm not sure what the case for that is since I think they only became authorized by Nintendo shortly afterwards... You might have to ask about using pre-licensing Prima for the wiki. I can definitely help out if it's considered official/useable, though. LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:31, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

Sorry to interject myself in this convo, but you stated the Prima YS guide "It bills itself as official".

Doesn't look like it to me? Same "Unauthorized Game Secret" suffix and ghetto but not copyright-infringing artwork. The Prima Games page does say they bundled together several of their "unauthorized game guides" after becoming licensee, but I'm not really comfortable with passing material from *these* guides as official. --Glowsquid (talk) 09:55, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

I was aware. The guide bundle is licensed, I guess, but that the material originates from an unofficial guide and doesn't appear to have been notably changed or revised when it was rereleased makes me think twice. Maybe I'm way overthinking this, but I feel there should be some disclaimer about the nature of the book and its original status as unlicensed if we're going to insert those yoshi's story names. --Glowsquid (talk) 11:06, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

So the re-released bundle is officially licensed, but the original guide isn't? We might actually have a similar precedent for this: there are a few citations and two images for How to Win at Super Mario Bros., which is the official English translation of Super Mario Brothers Kanzen Koryakubon. Mind, this does predate Nintendo Power, but the Japanese version of the guide is by Tokuma Shoten and not Shogakukan. I could be wrong, but I don't believe Tokuma Shoten were ever an official guidebook licensee -- it's just that Nintendo of America bought the rights for an overseas publication. LinkTheLefty (talk) 21:48, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

Um...

Just letting you know, your proposal to unfeature Mario Party 9 ended a long time ago. I don't mean to sound rude if I came off as rude. Marioguy (talk) 18:19, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

RE: Trivia

I take your point, and obviously no, that's more a trivia point. However, in the case of Snowman Doll, I feel the first point was fine in the introduction of the article. Reading it, for me, it didn't feel tacked on, as for the other point, reading it again I don't even feel it qualifies for trivia. Generically named item shares name with other generically named item doesn't feel right to me. Yoshi876 (talk)
