Shiny Goombas are a species of Goomba that debut in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. A Shiny Goomba looks like an ordinary Goomba, but they have a noticeable sheen, much like those of shiny stickers. Shiny Goombas appear in four levels: Snow Rise, Ice Flow, Whiteout Valley, and Bowser Jr.'s Flotilla. Unlike normal Goombas, Shiny Goombas battle in groups of three or more. Also, all stickers used against them (except for Things) have their damage halved. Just like an ordinary Goomba, Shiny Goombas attack by headbonking Mario, but they spiral in the air before making contact making this headbonk attack much slower. A lot of coins are gained when the player defeats them, depending on how many there are in battle. Shiny Goombas also appear on top of snowballs from the Snow Spikes in the area of Snow Rise with the Comet Piece leading to Ice Flow, and if Mario hammers the snowball with the Shiny Goomba on it, Mario will have to battle it but if Mario fails to hammer the snowball with the Shiny Goomba on it, the player will have to start over at the bottom of the hill since Mario will be rolled over and take damage and even worse, the player will have to fight if Mario gets rolled down the hill and will be unable to get a Perfect Bonus. Shiny Goombas also appear if the player uses a Jump type Sticker on a Shiny Paragoomba and if they still have HP left.
