Baby Mario is a major character in the Yoshi series of video games created to be Mario as a baby. He first appeared in "Toddler Terrors of Time Travel" in 1990 before starring with the Yoshies five years later in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Since then he has appeared in two other games in the Yoshi series and alongside his older self in several of sports spin-off video games.
Video Game Appearances (Chronological Order)
Super Baby
As mentioned before, Baby Mario's debut was in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Here, the Stork is on his way to deliver Baby Mario and Baby Luigi to the their parents in the Mushroom Kingdom. However, on the way, Kamek, an evil Magikoopa, kidnaps Baby Luigi and the Stork. Baby Mario falls into Yoshi's Island and lands on the back of a green Yoshi. Kamek has predicted that the Mario brothers will cause problems for the Koopas in the future, and as such he attempts to kidnap the babies. The Yoshi brings Baby Mario to the other Yoshis, and they decide to help Baby Mario rescue Baby Luigi from Kamek and Baby Bowser. After trekking the six worlds, and defeating the eleven Bosses, they finally reached Baby Bowser's Castle, where they battle him to a final showdown. But, after defeating him, Kamek turned him giant, even bigger than Yoshi's Island itself. After a long and grueling battle, Baby Bowser was defeated, and Baby Luigi was rescued. They were then taken to their parents, and all was well.
Once Again
Baby Mario went through the same ordeal in Yoshi's Island DS. Kamek was kidnapping babies from all over the world, and managed to capture Baby Mario, Baby Luigi and Baby Peach. However, the Stork arrived just in time, and managed to rescue Baby Mario and Baby Peach. Baby Mario dropped onto Yoshi's back... again, as Baby Peach dropped safely with her parasol. The Yoshi's then decided to go and rescue Baby Luigi from Kamek, but this time they have the Stork to help them. Each baby had a different power to help Yoshi. Baby Mario's was able to increase Yoshi's speed and break special "M" blocks. Along the way, he ended up joining forces with Baby DK, later Baby Wario and even Baby Bowser in order to rescue Baby Luigi. However, the last two left the group. Before Baby Bowser joined, it was revealed that this Kamek was from the future, and he came back in time with Bowser so that they can find the Star Children. The Star Children are seven babies with extraordinary powers. Yoshi and the babies managed to reach the Castle, where they met up with Baby Wario & Baby Bowser again. The two decide to join forces again, until the end of the level, where Baby Bowser betrays them. After beating him, Bowser appears to battle Yoshi and the babies. However, using Giant Eggs, Bowser was beaten as well. But, Kamek would not take loss as an option, and used his magic to turn Bowser giant. Now all four of the babies and four Yoshi's had to work together to defeat a gigantic Bowser. After a long battle, Bowser was beaten, taken back to his own time, and everything was fine. Eventually, the seventh star child is revealed, Baby Yoshi.
Baby and Man
Baby Mario, and his brother Baby Luigi, star alongside Mario and Luigi in "Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time". After Baby Mario protects Baby Peach from Baby Bowser, the Mushroom Kingdom is attacked by an evil alien race, known as the Shroobs. Although Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Bowser and Young Toadsworth escaped, the entire Mushroom Kingdom was in danger. Meanwhile, in the present day, E. Gadd has finished his latest invention, the Time Machine, which is powered by the Cobalt Star. Princess Peach decides to go back to the Mushroom Kingdom of the past. However, when the Time Machine returns, a monster called the Junior Shrooboid exits it, not Peach. Luckily, Peach is safe in the past. After beating the monstrosity, the group find out that the Time Machine created Time Holes, which lead straight back to the time period Peach is trapped in. Mario & Luigi end of going back in time, along with E. Gadd's talking suitcase, Stuffwell. They reach Hollijolli Village, which has been devastated by the Shroobs. They end up losing a battle to three Shroobs. Luckily, the Koopa Cruiser (which is where the Baby Mario Bros. are) is hovering above Hollijolli Village. Baby Bowser is convinced to rescue the village, due to Baby Peach's crying. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi end up rescuing their older selves, and the group team up at Baby Bowser's Castle. They soon realize that they must find the Cobalt Star Shards in order to rescue Peach, who has been captured by the Shroobs. They must find the Cobalt Star Shards, defeat Princess Shroob, and rescue Princess Peach. The Baby Mario Bros. ride on the adults' shoulders, and a baby takes over when one of the adults run out of HP. Luigi and the two babies often appear in the background doing humorous things (like running away from a Shroob) when Mario is talking to someone.
After collecting all the Cobalt Star Shards, the four enter Peach's Castle of the past, which is now called Shroob Castle. They end up finding Peach at the top of the Castle, but they are then attacked by Princess Shroob in the Shroob Mothership. Nevertheless, thanks to another ship nearby, the group manage to shoot down the Mothership, which lands in the room Peach is trapped in. Luckily, the crash managed to destroy the forcefield trapping Peach. Unfortunately, Princess Shroob was still alive and healthy, and was not willing to give up the Kingdom that easily. The four Mario Bros. fight harder than ever, until she finally falls. However, a dark secret about the Cobalt Star is revealed. Despite Peach's warnings, Baby Bowser collects the last Shard, which Peach had, and finishes the Star. However, it turns Baby Bowser into a Mushroob. Peach then reveals the truth about the Cobalt Star. It contained Princess Shroobs sister. She said that when she exited the Time Machine, she was instantly attacked by the Elder Princess Shroob. However, she trapped her in the Cobalt Star, and broke it into 6 Shards. She was then captured by the younger Princess Shroob. This is why everyone was trying to stop the Cobalt Star from being completed. The four Mario Bros. then have to battle Princess Shroob and the Shroob UFO's. After a long and grueling battle, and a bit of help from Peach, they defeat the Elder Princess Shroob, but the war was not won. She transformed into a humongous monstrous alien, with many Tentacles. Peach ends up falling unconscious, due to this transformation. This is where the battle grows incredibly hard. Elder Princess Shroob could not be damaged unless her Crown was destroyed, but the crown is too high to reach. The four Mario Bros. had to weaken her legs, which would then give way to Elder Princess Shroobs weight, and cause her to drop down. This will leave her Crown open for attack. However, her crown and legs can regain their energy, and she can do multiple attacks at one time. Despite all the odds, the Mario Bros. of Past and Present defeat the evil queen of the Shroobs. She then transforms into a very small Mushroob, which Baby Luigi then collects. But still, the war isn't won, the Mushroob's that the people were turned into are still spread across the land. But, thanks to Baby Luigi, they find out that tears is what reverts them back to their normal form. E. Gadd of present then uses the Hydrogush 4000 to spread baby tears throughout the entire Mushroom Kingdom of the past, destroying the Shroobs once and for all. However, when they reach the past, Bowser is found lying unconscious in the Throne Room. The Mushroob that Elder Princess Shroob turned into forces Bowser to eat her, turning him into Shrowser. This battle is unique, as the the four Bros. cannot attack Bowser, but has to dodge and counter Bowser's attack so they hit Elder Princess Shroobs spirit. In the end, Bowser is beaten, the Shroobs are destroyed, and the Baby Mario Bros., Baby Peach, and Young Toadsworth go back to their original time period. Before going back, Baby Mario gives Mario his hammer as a gift.

Appearances in Other Media
The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3
Baby Mario appeared in an episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, which takes place when Mario is an adult shortly after he and Luigi defeated Bowser in Super Mario Bros. 3. In "Toddler Terrors of Time Travel," King Koopa and Kooky von Koopa attempted to use Kooky's Time Travel Tube to go back in time to Brooklyn and stop the Mario Bros. from finding the Warp Zone to the Mushroom Kingdom in an old lady's bathtub. The Mario Bros. and Toad attempted to stop them by boarding the Doomship and following Koopa and Kooky through time. However, due to a glitch in the Time Travel Tube, everyone on board the Doomship was turned into their baby forms. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi fled from Baby Bowser and Baby Kooky. Baby Kooky fixed the tube and restored himself and his father back to their normal states. Baby Toad stole the tube and restored himself and the Mario Bros. back to normal, after which they managed to stop King Koopa's scheme.
Club Nintendo
Baby Mario also appeared in the comic "Warios Weihnachtsmärchen", published in the German Club Nintendo magazine, as a flashback in Wario's life. Baby Wario and Baby Mario were playing on the same beach. Surrounded by friends, Baby Mario was very popular, which made Baby Wario, who's bad behavior rendered him friendless, jealous of Baby Mario. The Ghost of Past reminded Wario of this event, in an attempt to reform him.
Character Description
Personality
Baby Mario has been described as being mostly brave and courageous, such as when he constantly rescues Baby Luigi. However, his Super Smash Bros. Brawl describes him as a crybaby, and this is also true. Unlike his older self, Baby Mario is not a silent protagonist and is actually very talkative. Baby Mario is also very energetic, as seen as when he wins a race in Mario Kart Wii and he jumps up and down and squeals. He also seems to be very playful like when he joins his adult counterparts and his baby friends in kart and bike races, tennis games and baseball games. He is also shown to be very speedy due to the fact that he is a Speed or Lightweight character in every single Mario Spin-off to date.
Physical Description
Baby Mario has beady black eyes and his large trademark nose. He has a thin layer of brown hair always covered by his trademark "M" hat.
Like most of the babies, his outfit eventually changed. in earlier appearances, he wears nothing but a white diaper and his trademark hat. He wears a yellow cape whenever he acquires and uses a star. Later on, he was given a new outfit in Mario Golf, which he continues to wear in his spinoff appearances, sometimes with minor adjustments. In this design he wears a red shirt covered by blue overalls. Originally, the shirt was sleeveless, such as in Mario Tennis, but his shirt is currently long sleeve. He also wears a pair of light blue and white sneakers.

Bio
"The elder of the baby Mario Brothers. After arriving in a stork-related calamity, he and Yoshi rescued his little bro. Though he's supposed to be Mario in his youth, you can play as both of them at the same time for some reason. He has excellent foot speed but lacks power do to his diminutive size."
