The Opened Can of Tuna is a special item in Paper Mario: The Origami King. It originates as Canned Tuna and is used to attract the Oarsman trapped in his monkey form. After filling up the lake and trying to steer the boat, Olivia notices the monkey nearby. Mario must approach it - this time, new dialogue is initiated. The cutscene ends with the monkey throwing a can of tuna at Olivia. This canned tuna must be picked up and kept in Mario's inventory.

Once the members of the Canned-Food Par-tay Trio are reunited, Mario must have the Bone Goomba open the canned tuna as he did the canned ravioli and later on, the Canned Heart. The can of tuna is opened up, allowing Mario to place it beneath the Water Vellumental Shrine model. This lures the monkey down, allowing Mario to hammer him and rescue the oarsman.

If Mario places the can of tuna below the monkey before opening it, the monkey comes down to investigate, but retreats due to not being able to open the can himself.
