The Hidden Block Unhider is an important item in Paper Mario: The Origami King. It can only be obtained in the Sensor Lab headquarters in Picnic Road, specifically after moving the Super Marino into the Great Sea. As the Toad Researcher describes it, it helps turn Hidden Blocks into regular ? Blocks. Similar to the Toad Radar and Lamination Suit, the Hidden Block Unhider runs on a battery and cannot be used if the battery is fully drained. If and when this occurs, Mario must bring it back to the Sensor Lab headquarters and pay to recharge it along with the other gadgets.
Like the other gizmos, Mario is asked to test the Hidden Block Unhider before receiving it. He must hop down a Warp Pipe taking him to an empty area. The Hidden Block Unhider's design is revealed to be identical to that of the Toad Radar and has a similar function. The closer Mario gets to a Hidden Block, the stronger the reactions become. Mario is asked to go through three different trials. He is tasked with revealing the Hidden Blocks among artificial scenery. Once the test is complete, the Toad Researcher hands the Hidden Block Unhider over to Mario, revealing it as his final creation. Mario can speak to the researcher to test the Hidden Block Unhider or any of the other inventions.
