"An unlimited pass to Shogun Studios. The best value!" | |
First appearance | Paper Mario: The Origami King (2020) |
- “Make way! Royalty, coming through!”
- —Automated message that plays when Mario uses the Royalty Pass to enter the park
The Royalty Pass is a special item in Paper Mario: The Origami King. It can be purchased from the vending machine at the start of Shogun Studios and used to enter the theme park. While the Commoner Pass costs 2,400 coins, the Royalty Pass costs 9,800 coins. Although the Royalty Pass costs a little more than four times as much as the Commoner Pass, there are several benefits to purchasing it.
- Although both passes can be used to enter the theme park, the Commoner Pass can only be used once, while the Royalty Pass has unlimited uses. As a result, Mario can only purchase the Royalty Pass once, as it remains in his inventory.
- When using the Royalty Pass to enter the theme park, Mario gets a special message and a small burst of confetti.
- Similarly, whenever Mario uses the Royalty Pass to open a chest in the theme park, he gets a special message, a small burst of confetti and a special prize, such as a collectible, as opposed to using the Commoner Pass, resulting in a simple prize such as one coin.
- With a Commoner Pass, the shuriken minigame costs 500 coins for a normal round of play and 800 coins for an expert round. The Royalty Pass allows Mario to play both for free. He is also able to practice for free regardless of the pass he is using.
- With a Commoner Pass, the photo booth costs 500 coins for a picture. The Royalty Pass allows Mario to take a picture for free. He is also granted access to the exclusive Royalty Set of clothes.
- With a Commoner Pass, 300 coins are required for a round of fishing at the fishing spot. With the Royalty Pass, Mario can fish all the time for free.
