Coin Rush is a mode in New Super Mario Bros. 2. It can only be played by one player. In it, the player, as Mario, must race through three random courses without losing one life and collecting the most coins. Of course, the player still has access to all the coin-boosting items from the story mode, like the Gold Block. However, by default, there is only 50 seconds allowed per course. The player can boost their time limit by collecting + Clocks and making it past Checkpoint Flags. As mentioned before, one single death means Game Over, and the player cannot collect Extra Lives, as 100 coins does not affect their life count and all 1-Up Mushrooms are replaced by Golden Mushrooms, which give 50 coins each. There is three packs, and more packs can be downloaded via DLC. [1]

Packs

  • Mushroom Pack: Included in-game, and randomly selects courses from Worlds 1, 2, Mushroom, Flower, and Star.
  • Flower Pack: Included in-game; randomly selects from Worlds 3 and 4.
  • Star Pack: Included in-game; randomly selects from Worlds 5 and 6.
