So these not only have the same lang-of-origin name, but they're both masked, spherical electrical fires that travel around walls and platforms. I think it's safe to say they were supposed to be the same thing. Not only that, but SMW2 already brought back Shy Guys en masse, Snifits, and a variation of Porcupo (not to mention the unused Tweeter thing), so it's clear there's a good amount of SMB2 influence. Furthermore, our only source for Piro Dangle also made up crufty names for other established entities, like Flopsy Fish and Mace Penguin.
