Cotton Top Cove (originally spelled as Cotton-Top Cove in the SNES release) is the third world of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, but can also be accessed as the fourth world (and vice-versa for Mekanos). It features a variety of water-themed, including lakes, waterfalls, and deep underwater areas. Near the waterfalls are various stair-like protrusions in the cliff face. A large lake and a long boardwalk are atop the waterfall. The Swanky's Sideshow tent (or Swanky's Dash in the Game Boy Advance remake) is set up near the lake. Blue's Beach Hut is the Brothers Bear location of Cotton Top Cove, located at the start. The secret cave is Bounty Bay, which is near the first level and to the right of the westernmost waterfall. Dixie and Kiddy can swim in a body of water to access the hidden secret cave from the world map, much like that of Lake Orangatanga.
The manual for Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! describes Cotton Top Cove as the Northern Kremisphere's best vacation spot because of the scenery. Due to the large amount of water in the area, several of Cotton Top Cove's areas are located underwater among the fish and coral reefs. However, Kremling remnants led by KAOS chased all tourists away.[1][2]
Levels[edit]
Bazza's Blockade
The first level, Bazza's Blockade is an underwater level where several Bazzas indefinitely spawn from small caves, moving in a horizontal direction.Rocket Barrel Ride
The second level, Rocket Barrel Ride takes place at a waterfall, and much of it involves the Kongs using Blast Barrels to make their way upward.Kreeping Klasps
The third level, Kreeping Klasps takes place on a series of boardwalks, although there is a Nibbla swimming in the lake below. Dixie and Kiddy must use ropes to travel across the water safely while also avoiding Klasps.Tracker Barrel Trek
The fourth level, Tracker Barrel Trek takes place at a waterfall where the Kongs have to use Tracker Barrels to travel their way across.Fish Food Frenzy
The fifth level, Fish Food Frenzy features a Nibbla appearing behind Dixie and Kiddy for nearly the entire level. It has to be constantly fed Kocos to remain blue and calm, otherwise it becomes red and hungry over time to the point of biting both Kongs.Boss level: Squirt's Showdown
The boss level, Squirt's Showdown takes place behind a waterfall on the eastern side of Cotton Top Cove, and it features a battle against a giant slug named Squirt.
