The Thousand-Year Door description A mystical stone shaped like the moon.

The Moon Stone is a stone shaped like a crescent moon that appears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Along with the Sun Stone, Mario needs the Moon Stone to gain access to Hooktail Castle. Both the Moon Stone and the Sun Stone are found in Shhwonk Fortress and are protected by Fuzzies.

In the GameCube version, Mayor Kroop refers to the Moon Stone and the Sun Stone collectively as stone keys. In the Switch remake, they are collectively referred to as the Sun and Moon Stones.
