Allies are NPCs in the Mario Party series that assist the player by giving them Dice Blocks and a special ability. In Mario Party: Star Rush, an ally can be summoned with a compatible amiibo. When summoned in the mode Toad Scramble, if Mario Party 10 data is saved on the amiibo, players receive a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Dice Block depending on what is saved on the amiibo. If not, they will give the player a Double Dice Block and become the leader. The ally also brings a special Dice Block and ability with them. The given Dice Block and ability is unique to the character that was summoned. If the ally remains the leader, the player can use their unique ability and Dice Block. If the player switches the leader to a Toad, allies can add 1-2 to the leader's dice roll. In the Coinathlon mode, allies give the player the ability to use the same item twice in a row and use the character corresponding to the amiibo. Allies function the same way in Balloon Bash as they do in Toad Scramble. Allies function very similarly in Mario Shuffle as they do in Toad Scramble, but only one of the same ally can be summoned. Players can get a Peepa disguised as another character as an ally if they play on World 2-2 and World 2-3. When this occurs, players cannot choose to use the Peepa, and the Peepa goes away after a set period of time.

Allies make a return in Super Mario Party, where they function differently. Allies can now only be summoned by landing on an Ally Space or by using an Ally Phone. When an ally is summoned, an NPC is chosen at random from the roster of playable characters to assist the player. Like in Mario Party: Star Rush, the player receives a special Dice Block unique to the ally. The player has the option to roll the special Dice Block or a normal Dice Block, and the ally adds 1-2 to the leader's dice roll. In the board King Bob-omb's Powderkeg Mine, if the player passes on the same space as a Bob-omb, it will follow and temporarily function as an ally. After a set amount of turns, the Bob-omb goes away by exploding.
