Checkpoint
A checkpoint from Yoshi's Woolly World
First appearance Yoshi's Woolly World (2015)
Latest appearance Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World (2017)

A checkpoint[1] is a flower with a face above an Arrow Sign in Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. It initially appears to be asleep with its petals retracted and the arrow missing, but once the player passes through one, the face changes into a smiley, the arrow appears, and the petals unfold. Most courses have the arrows point right or left, but in one course, one checkpoint has its arrow point diagonally up and left. In a similar vein to Checkpoint Rings in the Yoshi's Island games, checkpoints grant each Yoshi five hearts to their health display and turn any onscreen enemies on the same layer as the Checkpoint into a heart. In Mellow Mode, enemies become two hearts instead of one.
