Bomb Flappers are an explosive-dropping variety of Dr. Eggman's Flapper robots, introduced as uncommon magenta-colored enemies in Sonic Heroes. A single, darker-colored one makes its only appearance within the Super Mario franchise in the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games as a boss fought by Waluigi.
The Bomb Flapper appears in a minigame aptly titled Defeat Bomb Flapper! Here, it drops Bob-ombs because it is modified by a Shy Guy, who sends it after Waluigi after the latter demands access to the Shy Guy's "secret room." However, the Bomb Flapper then attacks everyone present, and the Shy Guy offers access to the secret room in exchange for saving him from the Bomb Flapper, hoping to escape while he is distracted. In battle, the Bomb Flapper hovers high above the field, dropping Bob-ombs, which wander around the area, eventually exploding. Occasionally, it drops green versions of Bob-ombs, which pursue Waluigi and explode on contact. If Waluigi is caught in an explosion, he is momentarily stunned. Waluigi can damage the Bomb Flapper by picking up the normal Bob-ombs and throwing them at it. After being defeated, it falls to the ground and explodes, leaving a hole in the ground that leads to the secret room.
