Talk:Sign
Scope of the "See also" section[edit]
There are currently thirteen articles linked to in the "See also" section, but I don't think they all have the same relevance to the subject of this article. To me, a sign, the actual article-worthy concept, is a thing you press A on to read text. This is the concept that the entirety of the article is about. Yet, while the "see also" section does contain some articles related to that concept specifically (such as variants of the concept like Tip Network and Hint Art, or particular signs like Toad Town News and Happy Lucky Lottery), it also contains signs with entirely unrelated roles: No Animal Signs and Star Coin Signs that are limits placed on the player, Standees that are player-placed collectibles, and an enemy that happens to be a sign.
I see the value in listing the various signs in Mario games, but I feel a Category:Signs would suit this purpose better, leaving the "See also" section clear for signs that match the sense of the article. Although, now I think about it — maybe we should move the mentions of those to the sections on the relevant games? I'd appreciate thoughts on whether that would make sense.
I don't feel this rocks the boat enough to need a TPP, but since this is a very fresh article, I'm hesitant to make such a structural change to it unannounced since this article has clearly been in the oven for a while. Ahemtoday (talk) 23:43, May 4, 2024 (EDT)
- I've whittle down the "See also" section to what I personally think are relevant, but you (or anyone else) are welcomed to adjust it further. A "Category:Signs" would be valuable. - Nintendo101 (talk) 14:26, May 5, 2024 (EDT)
