The first Directional Blocks that are used to reach the first Star Medal of World 3-4

Directional Blocks[1] are objects in Super Mario 3D Land. These purple blocks with an arrow on each side can be hit from below by either Mario or Luigi to make it travel in the direction it points to for a distance that is roughly half of its height/width, usually allowing the player character to access certain blocks and collectible items. A Directional Block's positions can be reset by restarting the levels they appear in.
