Grandma's relation to Princess Toadstool is never elaborated upon. The name "Grandma" is a literal translation of her Japanese title "''Obāsan''", which can mean "grandmother" or be used as a respectful title for an elderly woman. The ''Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars'' Nintendo Player's Guide simply refers to this character as the "'''chambermaid'''"<ref>''Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars'' Nintendo Player's Guide, page 21.</ref>.

This article is about Princess Toadstool's apparent grandmother in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. For other uses of the term Grandma, see Grandma (disambiguation).

Grandma, also called the chambermaid[1], is a minor character in the game Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Like other subjects of Mushroom Castle, she is shown worrying about Princess Toadstool. To prevent Mario from using Toadstool's bed, she demonstrates the ability to recover the party's HP during the invasion of Mack and his gang of Shysters. Later, she disguises herself as Toadstool, who sneaks out of the castle and joins Mario on his adventure to defeat Smithy and recover the seven Star Pieces. She and Toadstool are the only ones who know about Toadstool's ???.
