The Sultan is the ruler of a desert palace on The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. He appears in the episode "The Beauty of Kootie," when oil gushes out of the faucets while taking a bath in his jacuzzi. To fix the problem, the Sultan calls Mario and Luigi over to fix his palace's plumbing. It is later revealed that his palace's plumbing had been sabotaged by Cheatsy and Kootie Pie Koopa so that they could steal his oil to refill the Doomship. The Sultan's palace is destroyed by the end of the episode, but Luigi uses a magic wand left by the Koopa Kids to rebuild it.
The Sultan would have also appeared in the unaired episode "Frog Feats," where his magic carpet is stolen by King Koopa and his Koopalings. His messenger then informs Mario and his friends, who are in their Frog Suited-forms, of the theft, with the four heroes deciding to help.[1]
