A Flashing Egg,[1][2] also named Flaming Egg,[3] is an item in every game of the Yoshi's Island series. They are very rare Yoshi egg with spots flashing rapidly between magenta, green, red, and yellow. Flashing Eggs first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its remake, where they are placed the ground in some areas, such as Shy-Guys On Stilts. When a Flashing Egg hits an enemy, a red coin appears. Flashing Eggs are not usable in Yoshi's Island DS, though one appears in an unreachable area of Yoshi's Island Easter Eggs; their behavior from the previous games is still intact in the game's code.[4] Flashing Eggs return as usable items in Yoshi's New Island, now having a glowing, pink coloration and appearing in Bouncy Beanstalk Walk and Chomp Rock Challenge.
