Granite Getaway is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 6 and Super Mario Party Jamboree. This minigame is likely based on the iconic Raiders of the Lost Ark scene in which Indiana Jones is chased by a giant boulder.
Introduction[edit]
Everyone is looking around wildly, then a giant boulder drops from the ceiling (or simply rolls toward the players in Super Mario Party Jamboree), and the game starts.
Gameplay[edit]
The game takes place in a brown cave. The players must run away from the giant rolling boulder behind them. The players have to hold down the whole time, or they are squashed by the boulder. Players have to jump to avoid the many obstacles that appear onscreen. After a while, a spot with a wooden floor is reached (the boulder falls through it in Mario Party 6, while a gateway stops the boulder in Super Mario Party Jamboree); players who survive up until this point win. In Mario Party 6, if the boulder squashes everyone, the game ends in a tie. In Super Mario Party Jamboree, a tie happens only if all players are squashed at the same time.
In Super Mario Party Jamboree, the characters now have a worrisome expression and run with their hands out in front of them. Swoops are also present, although this has no effect on the gameplay.
Ending[edit]
Players who get to the end of the cave do their victory animations. In Super Mario Party Jamboree, the loser(s) perform(s) their defeat animation(s) behind the winner(s).
