Stone Buzzies are a variation of Buzzy Beetle that appear in Super Paper Mario. They resemble standard Buzzy Beetles and their other variants in the first three Paper Mario games, but as their name indicates, uniquely bear a gray shell made of stone. This stone shell is far less sturdy than a regular Buzzy Beetle's shell, as jumping on it will crack it until it breaks after three stomps, defeating them. When this happens, they are revealed to only wear blue shorts with red polka dots, which seemingly embarrasses the Stone Buzzy as they promptly disappear.
Stone Buzzies are first encountered in Downtown of Crag, where one appears in 3D, and they are found in abundance within the Gap of Crag. A more powerful version, the Dark Stone Buzzy, appears in the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials.
Buzzy Beetles which similarly wear a rock-like shell, Magmites and Magmuses, prior appeared in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Tattle | This is definitely a Stone Buzzy. That rock-hard shell must be heavy... Max HP is 3, Attack is 2, and Defense is ??. Flames won't burn its hard shell... I hear that you can crack its shell if you hit it enough... But I'm a little afraid to see what they look like without their shell... |
