Big Blooper is a boss who appeared in Super Paper Mario, during Chapter 3-2 (in the Tile Pool). This gigantic Blooper blocks Mario, Bowser, and Peach from moving on to Fort Francis. He has many tentacles of different colors, which serve various purposes: Big Blooper uses the blue tentacles to attack Mario and his allies, while the yellow ones prevent them from moving on. Even Mario's Flip ability proves useless to escape the huge squid. Every now and then, tentacles will rise from the bottom of the screen, attempting to hurt the player.

Since blue and yellow tentacles cannot be harmed in any way, Bowser must damage Big Blooper by breathing fire at his red tentacles. That said however, one may also defeat him by using Thudley to Ground Pound on his red tentacle.

Big Blooper survived the battle, however; if a player enters the area where his tentacles come out of the floor and ceiling, they will still continue to do so. If a player returns with Tippi or Tiptron, Big Blooper can be tattled this way.

Big Blooper, Super Paper Mario

Big Blooper is a boss who appears in Chapter 3-2 of Super Paper Mario, blocking the way through the Tile Pool and preventing Mario, Princess Peach and Bowser from reaching Fort Francis.

During its battle, the player may damage it by jumping on the tentacles when they are sticking up out of the water. The player may also use Thudley to ground-pound the tentacles or use Bowser's Fire Breath to damage them. If the player miss a tentacle when ground pounding, they will lose Heart Points. Slamming or burning the blue tentacles makes the more-sensitive red tentacles bob upward with more frequency. If Mario goes into 3D and tries to leave, the Big Blooper's tentacles will block the way.

Defeating Big Blooper does not earn the player any points, and the giant squid is not killed by the encounter. If the player enters the area where the Blooper's tentacles come out of the floor and ceiling, Big Blooper can be tattled using Tippi or Tiptron.

Big Blooper's theme is an arrangement of the underwater music from Super Mario Bros. 3. In the Japanese version of the game, Big Blooper's Catch Card describes it as hailing from the western seas, a reference to the Blooper from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, who is also said to hail from the western seas.[1]
