Template:Species-infobox Needlenoses[1], or Needles[1], are a type of Pokey that certain enemies spit. They take the shape of a yellow or green spiky ball with a smiling face. They can be turned into eggs. Needlenoses appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Yoshi Touch & Go, Yoshi's Island DS, and Yoshi's New Island.
While most Needlenoses eventually pop when shot at a Yoshi, those spat out by the Sanbo Flowers and those dropped by Baron von Zeppelin will bounce. They can be spat from Priscilla, a Blow Hard and its relatives, a Wild Ptooie Piranha, or dropped by a Baron von Zeppelin. Seedy Sallies can also throw them, and Sanbo Flowers shoot them if the Yoshi has less than six eggs. A Needlenose will also sometimes bounce on top of a Pokey. If Yoshi defeats or eats the Needlenose, the Pokey will frown and lay down. However, it will produce another Needlenose shortly after.
Needlenoses are replaced by Pokey Poms in Yoshi's Woolly World.
