Bucket
A Bucket (alternatively known as the Marvelous Bucket in Paper Mario[1]) is an item featured in Mario & Wario, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Paper Mario.
The Bucket is a major item in the game Mario & Wario. It is one of many objects dropped by Wario on top of the head of either Princess Peach, Mario, or Yoshi in order to obstruct their vision. As such, Wanda the fairy has to guide the blind heroes to the end of the game's various stage. The Bucket features Mario's "M" insignia when up-right, although when turned upside-down, the "M" becomes Wario's "W," referencing Wario's power over the character. The Bucket is only used in the first stage, Yōsei no Mori - other stages besides EXTRA have different head objects, which are usually references to other games in the series.
Buckets are also present in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. They appear in a few levels of the game, usually fort or castle levels. These Buckets can be found hanging on walls or ceilings. The Yoshis can knock the Bucket down by throwing an egg at it. After being knocked down, a Bucket may produce coins, or at times, enemies. In some levels, the Yoshis have to knock the Bucket into a body of water or lava, then jump into the bucket and ride it across the dangerous segment until reaching land. They also appear in the sequels, Yoshi's Island DS and Yoshi's New Island. There is also a gold bucket variety that doesn't fall down when hit.
A Bucket also appears in Paper Mario. The mayor of Shiver City will give Mario an ordinary Bucket after he gets the Scarf from Merle. In Shiver Snowfield, after Mario puts the Bucket on top of the hat-less snowman and the Scarf around the scarf-less snowman, the passage to Shiver Mountain will open.
The book Mario and the Incredible Rescue, has Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Toad fighting Wario in Booster Pass. The fight has Wario driving his plane, as he throws Buckets down at the gang. Mario and Yoshi defeat him by jumping up to his plane and placing a Bucket on his head, blinding him and causing him to loose control of his plane and spiral out of view.

In Mario and Wario, an excellent game released only in Japan, this hidden item gets placed on Mario's head, rendering him sightless. The fairy Wanda then guides the helpless Mario past numerous obstacles to the goal. The M on the bucket becomes a W when turned upside down, signifying that Mario has fallen under Wario's wicked control. |
