Cheep Cheeps[1] are green, pigeon-like or penguin-like birds that appear in Super Mario Sunshine. They are found only in Noki Bay. They are hidden in wall indents with no indication that they are there (barring a question mark showing up within the wall if the player tilts the camera properly). If Mario walks close enough to them, they immediately charge at him, knocking him away. They then linger for a bit of time before retreating into the wall and completely disappearing. There is no way to avoid being hit by them without completely avoiding the locations they appear in. Due to how they look and act, they are comparable to the birds inside cuckoo clocks, and have yellow wooden crisscrossed Ultra Hand-like bars behind them. There are two Cheep Cheeps, which appear in every episode of Noki Bay except Red Coins in a Bottle, where Mario is not given a chance to explore the bay. One is found along a cliffside next to the lower of two pulley-using platforms, and it is reachable by grabbing along an edge and having Mario cross it by hand. The other Cheep Cheep is found up above, in one of the holes that opens only when a wall painting on it is sprayed.
Similar red boxing gloves known as Punchers appear from other alcoves. They have stronger launch power than Cheep Cheeps.
