World 1-2 is the second of eight available stages in "VS Game" and "You VS. Boo" in Super Mario Bros. Deluxe.

LayoutEdit

The players start the level while already underground. The level starts with a two-floor tunnel with alternating Face Blocks and Dotted-Line Block walls. Jumping from the lower floor to the upper floor is possible but provides no real advantage, while it is impossible to jump up from the upper floor as there are four rows of brickwalls above.

After that there are some upper and lower paths the player can go. Taking all of the upper right paths, which are suited for Small Mario and Super/Fiery Mario, leads directly to a top-of-stage run, while the lower paths can only be comfortably used by Small Mario and lead to a gradual climb to the top-of-stage run.

At the point where the upper and lower paths merge on top, a section strongly resembling the Warp Zone of the namesake level in Super Mario Bros. is encountered. The "normal" pipe is completely inaccessible due to bricks that are placed in a way that make them impossible to jump into, while the "warp" pipe corresponds to the original's World 3-1 pipe, cannot be entered, and its Piranha Plant does not despawn. The players can choose to continue on the top path or to attempt a chicane down and across the Piranha Plant pipe and then down a bottom straight tunnel.

Continuing on the top path allows continuing to run at full speed, but the exit jump must be long in order to bypass tightly packed Dotted-Line Block trenches below.

The final section contains block sections and pipe sections resembling those of the source game namesake, including the triangle-shaped gaps, but with some narrow gaps mixed in, some of which depend on the Face Blocks and some of which have paths that require Small Mario. After getting across a final six-block tall wall, the players reach the flagpole.

"You VS. Boo" timesEdit

  • Defeat White Boo: Reach the flagpole before the timer hits 175.
  • Defeat Green Boo: Reach the flagpole before the timer hits 195.
  • Defeat Red Boo: Reach the flagpole before the timer hits 217.
