- This article is about the second floor in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis. For the board from Mario Party, see Yoshi's Tropical Island.
Tropical Island (called Tropical Turmoil in the British English version) is the second floor in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis. The background features palm trees, an ocean, two overlapping islands, and a Shine Sprite without eyes. The ground is beige with a purple lining along the top.
This floor introduces new objects, including Color Switches, floats, Warp Pipes, cracked blocks, and the ? Block, which spawns a Fire Flower that can turn Mini Mario into Fire Mini Mario. Newly introduced enemies that appear on this floor include Bloopers, Cuttacuttas, and Capture Kongs, while Piranha Plants and Shy Guys return from Mushroom Mayhem. Starting on this floor, Bob-ombs appear alongside Shy Guys in Shy Guy Smash!
During the Mini Marios' second encounter with Donkey Kong in Room 2-DK, referred to as Boss Game 2, Donkey Kong floats on a spiked platform and attacks by throwing bananas. To defeat him, the player must shoot Mini Marios from a cannon. When shot, a Mini Mario can bounce off the walls to hit Donkey Kong directly; however, if it instead hits the spiked platform or bananas, it will be destroyed. If the Mini Mario reaches the top of the screen, it will activate one of four platforms, causing the coconut hanging from it to fall. With the right timing, these coconuts can fall on Donkey Kong and damage him. After Donkey Kong takes 6 hits, he is defeated and flees to Pipe Works.
Upon completing Room 2-DK, the Tropical Island construction kit is unlocked for the Construction Zone.
