Revision as of 09:25, March 27, 2019
It has been requested that this article be rewritten. Reason: Should decide if it wants to cover a simple color variation (in which case it should be merged to Shy Guy) or a specific ally character (in which case the rest should be pruned and merged) (tagged on September 18, 2018)
Template:Species-infobox White Shy Guys are white-colored Shy Guys first found in the game Yoshi's Story. They are friends of the Yoshis, and could be considered the antithesis of the Black Shy Guy, as the White Shy Guys work against their Shy Guy brethren, while the Black Shy Guys are the elite in Baby Bowser's Shy Guy forces. They later reappeared assisting another one of Bowser's enemies (Fawful) in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. A White Shy Guy is also playable in the DS Download Play mode in Mario Kart DS. They later appear with black shoes instead of their original light blue shoes.
History
Yoshi's Story
If a Baby Yoshi finds a White Shy Guy in Yoshi's Story, the White Shy Guy will follow behind the Yoshi like a Yoshi Egg, copying the Yoshi's movements until the stage is completed. Indeed, the White Shy Guy will take the place of one the Yoshi's eggs, meaning that the Yoshi can only carry five eggs instead of the normal amount of six. After the stage is completed, the White Shy Guy can be selected in the Yoshi select screen. There can potentially be multiple White Shy Guys on the select screen if the players collects them throughout the game without using them. If selected, the White Shy Guy will equip the helicopter backpack of the Propeller Shy Guys and travel to Baby Bowser's Castle in order to rescue any Yoshi that has been captured by the Toadies. However, the White Shy Guy cannot rescue Black Yoshi and White Yoshi]if the player loses White Yoshi or Black Yoshi. White Shy Guys are usually hidden inside Bubble Pops or ? Blocks in the levels they appear in.
Mario Kart series
Mario Kart DS
A White Shy Guy also appears as a playable character in Mario Kart DS, although it only appears as a playable character in the DS Download Play mode.
Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
A White Shy Guy is available as a downloadable character in Mario Kart 8. The player can unlock it by buying the The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8 and Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 downloadable content packs.
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the White Shy Guy is included as an alternate color for Shy Guy within the base game.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey
In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, White Shy Guys appeared in Bowser's Castle, but this time, they are working for Fawful. Mario, Luigi, and Bowser never get to fight them on their own, but when the Sniffle Thwomp faints at the start, three White Shy Guys come in, pick it up and carry it to Bowser. They reprise their role in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, having their upgraded design from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
A White Shy Guy also appears in the DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Here, it appears in the Adventure Tours mode in Frostown. If the player fails a mission a certain number of times, the White Shy Guy will offer a completion ticket, which can then be used to skip the mission. This does not work with the final three missions against Bowser and Dr. Eggman, since the first mission immediately starts upon encountering them and the subsequent missions start as soon as the previous ones end.
