Bombarded by Bob-ombs is an e-Reader level for Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. The level contains five Advance Coins. Its official difficulty rating is ★★★★☆. This card was released as part of series one in Japan[1][dead link] and series two in North America[2][dead link]. The former depicts Roy Koopa on the key art, while the latter depicts a Bob-omb.

Synopsis[edit]

A screenshot showing Mario inside of the level

The level takes place in what appears to be Dark Land. After passing over various tank fortifications, Mario or Luigi enter what appears to be the inside of one of the tanks with an abundance of Bob-ombs. At the end of this area, the player has to defeat Boom Boom. If Mario or Luigi collect 110 coins in this level, they receive five extra lives.

New level elements include a Mushroom Coin and a ? Block-styled Coin Block.

Flavor text[edit]

  • English:
Can you weather the storm of bomb blasts and collect all the Coins?
  • Japanese:
    おまえたち 今日(きょう)のえものは マリオはんやで 派手(はで)におむかえするんや!
(Romanization: Omae-tachi kyō no emono wa Mario-han ya de hade ni omukae surun ya!)
(Translation: "You lot, today's prey is Mr. Mario, give him a nice, flashy welcome!")

Names in other languages[edit]

Language Name Meaning Notes
Japanese ボムへいのたいぐん![?]
Bomuhei no Taigun!
Big Army of Bob-ombs!

Trivia[edit]

  • The pipe background in the second half of this level is missing the leaking animation, instead showing a glitched airship tile. This is because the airship tileset overwrites the space in memory normally reserved for the pipe background's animation. The same also happens in the interior area of Bowser's Airship 1.
