A Tail Bowser[1] is a boss introduced in Super Mario 3D Land. It is a fake Bowser powered by a Super Leaf.
History[edit]
Super Mario 3D Land[edit]
Tail Bowsers are fought on bridges at the end of castle levels in Super Mario 3D Land, like with fake Bowsers in Super Mario Bros. They attack by breathing giant fireballs and jumping around the stage. The first Tail Bowser is encountered in World 1-Castle, and the second is in World 5-Castle; the latter also swings its spiky striped tail to attack and destroy columns. A Tail Bowser is defeated only when the switch at the end of the bridge is activated, causing the Tail Bowser to collapse into the lava before bouncing upwards to show its true form (a Goomba in World 1 and a Magikoopa in World 5) alongs with a Super Leaf.
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games[edit]
A Tail Bowser appears in Mario's Figure Skating Spectacular, a Dream Event of Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. It chases the team across a giant collapsing bridge, spitting fireballs at the teammates. The Tail Bowser falls into lava when the team hits four buttons at the same time, turning it into a Goomba and a Super Leaf.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[edit]
A Tail Bowser makes a cameo in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. It appears on a Battle Card, taking its design from Super Mario 3D Land.
