World 2-1 is the fifth of eight available stages in "VS Game" and "You VS. Boo" in Super Mario Bros. Deluxe.

Layout

The level starts out with a trampoline-based puzzle. Super Mario or Fiery Mario must bounce from the trampolines on the right with A Button to break two bricks above, and then handle a Face Block on the left to remove a tall wall of Dotted-Line Blocks on the right.

This is followed by three pipes, with a need to jump from the second pipe to the top of the third one. Afterwards, some Dotted-Line Blocks cover the top of some pipes, though Mario can jump across them even if the blocks are toggled on, followed by a small one- or two-wide drop from there to ground altitude.

After a short straight, the next section is tightly packed bricks and pipes. Super/Fiery Mario can break the blocks to get on top, but must either do a very tight jump over a high-placed Dotted-Line Block wall or get down to the ground again.

After that is another Dotted-Line Block pipe block section, and a second trampoline section that can be crossed normally to the right. The final staircase is tricky to get over, as it consists almost entirely of Dotted-Line Blocks that can not be bypassed and where the time window to reach the top is very narrow, especially in "You VS. Boo". Once on top of the staircase, the player can jump from there to the flagpole.

"You VS. Boo" times

  • Defeat White Boo: Reach the flagpole before the timer hits 160.
  • Defeat Green Boo: Reach the flagpole before the timer hits 184.
  • Defeat Red Boo: Reach the flagpole before the timer hits 191.
