Thomas Spindler is a German translator who worked with Nintendo through a company known as T.S. Word.[1] Additionally, he was the voice of Wario in the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64,[2] and his "laugh" voice sample was also used for the Thwomps. Although Wario was dubbed over by Charles Martinet in International versions of Mario Kart 64, Spindler's voice clips were still used in all versions of Mario Party, Mario Party 2, and Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
He was chosen by Takashi Tezuka to do the voice of Wario,[3] and he recalled only voicing him in Mario Kart 64.[4] His last project with Nintendo was Pikmin.[5]

- According to Julien Bardakoff, Spindler was chosen to voice Wario in Mario Kart 64 just because he was German and had a deep voice, which was fitting for a "bad guy", due to the stereotype of the German language and accent sounding "angry".[6]
