Superstar Road is the ninth and final world of New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. It is similar to World 9 from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Superstar Road is a homage to the Star World from Super Mario World, while its name references the Star Road-esque portal used to access it. The portal is on an island in the borders of Layer-Cake Desert, Sparkling Waters, Frosted Glacier and Soda Jungle, and can only be accessed via a pipe after completing the game. This is the only world where two of the power-ups from New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Propeller Mushrooms and Penguin Suits, can be found. There are a total of nine levels in this world, eight of which are only accessible by collecting all the Star Coins from each world while the last one can be unlocked by completing all other Superstar Road levels with three Star Coins collected.

Superstar Road-2 Run for It File:NSMBU 2-RunforItP1.Still002.jpg This level has a Layer-Cake Desert setting, where the player must hit P Switches to turn coins into Brick Blocks in order to progress; it is similar to the first course in the Nerve-Wrack Pack released as DLC for New Super Mario Bros. 2, and is similar to 7-7 from Super Mario Bros. 3.
Superstar Road-3 Swim for Your Life! File:NSMBU 3-SwimforYourLife.Still002.jpg This level takes place in an underwater cavern, where a Cheep Chomp is persistently trying to eat Mario. This can be used to defeat enemies and thus open paths.
Superstar Road-4 Hammerswing Caverns File:NSMBU 4-HammerswingCaverns.Still001.jpg Taking place in a frozen cave similar to Icicle Caverns, this level features swinging hammer-like platforms that help Mario to cross bottomless pits.
Superstar Road-5 Spinning Platforms of Doom File:Spinning Platforms of Doom.jpg Returning to the art style of Painted Swampland, this stage contains Poisoned Water that can be avoided by riding spinning platforms.
Superstar Road-6 Fire Bar Cliffs File:NSMBU 6-FireBarCliffs.Still001.jpg Mario must deal with many Big Fire Bars in this Rock-Candy Mines-like level.
Superstar Road-7 Lakitu! Lakitu! Lakitu! File:NSMBU 7-LakituLakutiLakitu.Still001.jpg The level has a Meringue Clouds setting, and is populated by Lakitus. The slide lifts from Slide Lift Tower return.
Superstar Road-8 Pendulum Castle File:NSMBU 8-PendulumCastle.Still001.jpg The setting is the same as The Final Battle. The stage features big-sized Spinners and Donut Block floors.
Superstar Road-9 Follow That Shell! File:NSMBU 9-FollowThatShell.Still001.jpg The final level in the game, having a sky setting. Here, Mario can use Koopa Shells to get a large amount of extra lives and get Star Coins.

Superstar Road-1 Spine Coaster Connections File:Superstar Road 1 NSLU.png This is the last level where Luigi can find Spine Coasters. It is set in a place similar to Acorn Plains. The main enemies in this level are Fuzzies.
Superstar Road-2 P Switch Peril File:Superstar Road 2 NSLU.png This level has a Layer-Cake Desert setting, where the player must hit P Switches in order to progress. Luigi needs to avoid falling metallic crates.
Superstar Road-3 Star Coin Deep Dive File:Superstar Road 3 NSLU.png Taking place in a haunted shipwreck, Luigi is persistently trying to not be eaten by a Cheep Chomp, who is also useful to defeat enemies.
Superstar Road-4 Hammerswing Hangout File:Superstar Road 4 NSLU.png Taking place in a Tower, this level features swinging hammer-like platforms that help Luigi to climb to the top. Flipruses are also found here.
Superstar Road-5 Under Construction File:Superstar Road 5 NSLU.png This level take place in a level with a identical art style of Painted Pipeworks. This stage contains Poisoned Water that can be avoided by Brick Blocks which are used as platforms for the levels.
Superstar Road-6 Fire Bar Sprint File:Superstar Road 6 NSLU.png Luigi must deal with many Big Fire Bars in this Rock-Candy Mines-like level. The more Luigi advances in the level, the faster the Firebars will spin.
Superstar Road-7 Cloudy Capers File:Superstar Road 7 NSLU.png In this stage, Luigi must ride Lakitu's Cloud in between many Fuzzies, switching clouds at different points.
Superstar Road-8 Impossible Pendulums File:Superstar Road 8 NSLU.png A stage where Luigi must dodge many giant Spinners. The background is the same as in The Final Battle.
Superstar Road-9 Flying Squirrel Ovation File:Superstar Road 9 NSLU.png The last level of the game. Luigi must use his Flying Squirrel form to finish this snow-themed level where many Waddlewings appears. This is the only level of the game where Nabbit is not playable in single-player mode of the original version.
