Template:Character-infobox Template:Quote2 Espio the Chameleon is a character from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and a member of the Team Chaotix, along with Vector the Crocodile, and Charmy Bee.
History
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series
He appears in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, acting as a referee, alongside many other characters. Espio is the third Sonic the Hedgehog referee, after Cream the Rabbit and Charmy Bee. He retains this role in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games and Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. In the latter, he gives the player his costume after they win 12 events. In Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, he is the cameraman for record-breaking interviews with the athletes.
In Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, he appears as a playable character, his first playable appearance in the series. He is only playable in the Long Jump event (and Long Jump Plus in the Nintendo 3DS version). Additionally, although he is available from the start in the 3DS version, Espio must be unlocked before he can be played as in the Wii U version; this is done so by beating him in a tournament match.
Super Smash Bros. series
He appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a collectible sticker, as well as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Espio, Vector, and Charmy Bee appear together as a Spirit.
