The Varmint is an unlockable standard bike body that appears in Mario Kart 8. It is an all-terrain motorcycle that appears to be a bike version of the Bolt Buggy from Mario Kart 7 and the Pipe Frame regarding its appearance. It also resembles a rat bike. Unlike the Pipe Frame, the bike has a four-stroke engine and its engine sound is a higher-pitched version of The Duke. The emblem is located on the back of the bike.
It shares its stats with the Standard Bike, Pipe Frame, Flame Rider, Wild Wiggler, W 25 Silver Arrow, and City Tripper.
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, CPU Daisy and Wario can often be seen riding this with the Hot Monster tires, while Donkey Kong, Tanooki Mario, and Funky Kong also ride the Varmint, instead using the Monster tires. Additionally Wendy uses the Varmint with Standard tires. Additionally, the Varmint's stats have been altered so that it now hinders speed, but gives a higher boost in acceleration and now slightly boosts traction. In terms of its hidden stats, it no longer increases water speed and now hinders air speed and air handling, while hindering anti-gravity speed further, with no compensation. It now only shares its stats with the Pipe Frame and the City Tripper.
