<< Directory of missions >>

Purple Coins in the Woods is a Purple Coin collecting mission found in Gold Leaf Galaxy in the game Super Mario Galaxy. There are 100 Purple Coins to collect here under a time limit of three minutes and thirty seconds. This mission can only be played if a Purple Comet is orbiting the Galaxy. Throughout the mission are Honeybees that tell Mario (or Luigi) how many Purple Coins he should have at that moment.

Layout[edit]

Mario (or Luigi) initially lands on the Reverse Kingdom Planet. The outlook of the starting planet is the same as how it looks in the mission When It Rains, It Pours, except there is no Bee Mushroom for Mario to collect here. Mario should first jump up some blocks to collect six Purple Coins. Mario then lands on a wooden walkway with a hollow stump nearby, both containing Purple Coins. Following the wooden walkway, he finds more blocks he has to ascend. At the top of the blocks, there are thin wooden walkways suspended high above ground. This area contains more Purple Coins that Mario should collect. At the end of this wooden structure is a Trampoline. Ground Pounding on the Trampoline earns Mario some more Purple Coins. Mario should then find a nearby swing reached by another Trampoline that takes him up to a wooden staircase. Climbing the wooden staircase gives Mario more Purple Coins. Leaving the wooden staircase, Mario finds himself on a circular path that contains some Purple Coins. Navigating the path to the right, he finds some high platforms he has to jump to. By using a combination of wall jumps, spins and somersaults, Mario is able to reach up to the high platforms. After doing this twice, he finds himself at a plateau with some Purple Coins. After negotiating a gap, Mario lands at a platform with a Sling Star and an alcove containing one Purple Coin. Using the Sling Star propels Mario to a platform with a railing, on which Purple Coins are found atop of, and a Trampoline that takes Mario to another Sling Star. This Sling Star takes Mario to a half-woody, half-grassy platform with a railing that has Purple Coins atop of it, and a breakable stone block. Breaking the stone block reveals a Sproutle Vine that must be climbed to reach the final area of this mission. The final area of the mission consists of a circular platform that has some moving platforms, spikes and more Purple Coins. After collecting every Purple Coin in the mission, the Power Star appears at this final area. Collecting the Power Star ends the mission.
