Cheese is a Chao with a red bow tie who often accompanies Cream and makes several crossover appearances in the Super Mario franchise. Cheese has made cameo appearances in collectables in the Super Smash Bros. series, while in the Mario & Sonic series, Cheese usually appears in supporting roles.
History[edit]
Super Smash Bros. series[edit]
Cheese makes a few cameo appearances in the form of items in the Super Smash Bros. series, being part of the same one as Cream in every instance. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Cheese appears on both a trophy and sticker with Cream. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, both Cheese and Cream are part of the same trophy, and Cheese is also mentioned in the British English description for the Chao trophy. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Cheese appears as part of a spirit with Cream that improves the user's jump height, and in the spirit battle, Cheese is represented by a small Squirtle with low gravity who takes less damage in the air.
Mario & Sonic series[edit]
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games[edit]
In the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, Cheese alongside Cream appears as a ski/snowboard decal sticker that can be purchased for 60 star tokens in Sports Shop. Cheese also can be seen on a stamp on every piece of mail the player receives.
Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games[edit]
In the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Cheese appears in the introduction, results and standings for London Party. They also reappear as a stamp on the mail.
In the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, Cheese appears in the Story Mode episode A Rainbow In Fog, where they are attacked by several imposters in the Main Stadium. They are later saved by Mario, Luigi, Sonic and Tails when they defeat the imposters, and remains at the stadium. Cheese is also mentioned in Cream's badge description.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020[edit]
Cheese makes a minor appearance in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, where they wear a special Tokyo 2020-themed happi and are seen clapping at the medal ceremony along with Toad and Cream in Quick Match mode. They also make a minor appearance at Tokyo Station alongside Cream in the Story Mode, though the two of them are the only distinct characters in said mode who do not have to be encountered to complete it and who have no role in its plot.
