Frostbitten Toads is a side quest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. In this quest, Mario and Luigi must find the two Toad buddies of a Blue Toad on Slippenglide Island.

Frostbitten Toads becomes available after linking Slippenglide Island and expires after the first visit to Wayaway Island. Clearing the side quest awards two Ultra Mushrooms and a 1-Up Mushroom.

Side quest

To start the side quest, Mario and Luigi must speak to a Blue Toad close to the village on Slippenglide Island. Cold and sleepy, he mistakes Snoutlet as an angel and immediately perks up at the sight of Mario and especially Luigi. He then tells them that a "mysterious force" blasted him and his two friends to Slippenglide Island. They are all split up, and he also tells the brothers that one of his friends went to the caves to get some sleep, while the other looked for something to eat. They are a Yellow Toad and Purple Toad respectively: the yellow one is found on a high ice platform in the cave, and the purple one is tasting cake in a village area only accessible via Connectar Flowers. After finding both Toads, the Blue one thanks the Bros. and all three Toads depart for Shipshape Island. The side quest is then complete.

Gossips's dialogue

The following quotes are from the gossips if they are spoken to while the side quest is available.

  • Yellow gossip: "Ladies! My heart can't take it... Those poor, poor Toads!"
  • Pink gossip: "The Toads over there at the shops? They look fine to me."
  • Blue gossip: "No, haven't you heard? Some Toads on Slippenglide Island are in danger!"
  • Pink gossip: "The little dears! Stuck out there in the vicious cold..."
  • Blue gossip: "We should send them something warm."
  • Yellow gossip: "Hot tea, perhaps?"
  • Blue gossip: "Mushroom soup!"
  • All three: "Oh, we're terrible! Ohohohoho!"

If the player speaks to them again, the above conversation is skipped and only one line of dialogue is said.
