Waterspout Beach, or Sparkling Waters-1, is the first course of Sparkling Waters in New Super Mario Bros. U. It is unlocked via completion of Morton's Compactor Castle, and its own completion unlocks Tropical Refresher. Waterspout Beach is based off Course 3 of New Super Mario Bros. Mii.
Layout
The level begins near a pair of palm trees, with a Hidden Block containing a 1-Up Mushroom located above the taller tree. A Water Geyser is found, along with a Huckit Crab. Another Huckit Crab follows, and is located on top of a Water Geyser. A section of the level above a pool of water follows, with Water Geysers and Warp Pipes acting as platforms. A ? Block containing a power-up is found above a pair of Water Geysers. A Huckit Crab is found on a Warp Pipe, and is followed by Water Geysers with Piranha Plant in between them. A section of ground with a Huckit Crab and a ? Block above palm trees follows. Bridge platforms and Water Geysers are used to cross the water, and a Red Ring is located above one of the Water Geysers. A row of Water Geysers with Piranha Plants is followed by the Checkpoint Flag. More Water Geysers and Huckit Crabs are located past the Checkpoint Flag. A Warp Pipe leads to an area containing a Clampy with a 1-Up Mushroom in its mouth. More Water Geysers and Piranha Plants are found in the section leading to the Goal Pole.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: In plain sight, players should jump off a Water Geyser to reach the first Star Coin.
- Star Coin 2: Shortly after the first Star Coin, players should freeze a Huckit Crab with the Ice Flower and toss it through the Water Geyser to reach the second Star Coin. Otherwise, players can freeze a nearby Cheep Cheep and use it as a platform to reach it.
- Star Coin 3: Players should use the POW Block when the Water Geysers rise to safely collect the third Star Coin.
