Light Blocks, Dark Tower, or Rock-Candy Mines-4, is the fourth course of Rock-Candy Mines in New Super Mario Bros. U. It is unlocked via completion of Grinding-Stone Tower or Shifting-Floor Cave, and its own completion opens the path to a blue ! Switch, a spot where a Bubble Baby Yoshi resides, a green Toad House, and the level Walking Piranha Plants!.
Layout
The level begins in a dark, underground area with large Light Blocks that periodically shift between on and off. A ? Block containing a Super Star is found to the left of the player's starting position. As Light Block platforms are climbed vertically, Swoops can be found. Rope ladders are found, along with Light Block platforms that move. ? Blocks that contain Super Stars if the player is Invincible Mario are found in the area as well. More moving Light Blocks are found, as well as Swoops, leading up to a Warp Pipe. The Warp Pipe leads to the area with the Checkpoint Flag. More Light Block platforms are found in this section, though they are activated temporarily using ? Switches found throughout the area. A Bob-omb is found on moving Light Blocks, and is followed by a yellow Warp Pipe blocked by Brick Blocks, which leads to an area with Bob-ombs and a crate containing a 1-Up Mushroom. More moving Light Blocks follow, as well as Fire Bros and Warp Pipes that spawn Bob-ombs. A Warp Pipe at the end of the section leads to an area with a Paratroopa and the Goal Pole.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: The first Star Coin is to the right, next to a Light Block wall near the beginning of the level.
- Star Coin 2: In the middle of the course is a yellow Warp Pipe that leads to the area with the second Star Coin. The Star Coin is found above a row of Paratroopas.
- Star Coin 3: Next to the Warp Pipe that leads to the last section, the third Star Coin is found above a Fire Bro.
