Variant of Pokey

Green Pokeys, originally known simply as Pokeys, are a green variety of Pokeys. They are based on the original Pokey design seen in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, Super Mario Bros. 2, and Mario Clash.

History[edit]

Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]

An unused sprite of a Green Pokey in Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
The unused sprite

In Paper Mario: Sticker Star, they can only be found in World 2. Unlike yellow Pokeys, these Pokeys lack spikes, are able to be jumped on, and have more HP. Green Pokeys attack by toppling on top of Mario; sometimes, Mario gets crumpled if he does not block the attack. Each time a Green Pokey loses a body segment, its attack goes down. Green Pokeys are aided by Spinies, Paragoombas, and Sombrero Guys.

The Tower Power Pokey can also summon these Pokeys during the boss battle against it; however, they only have 8 HP each. Tower Power Pokey's own head more closely resemble these Pokeys than the yellow ones, despite the color difference.

Green Pokeys have an unused sprite with the yellow variant's spikes.

Paper Mario: Color Splash[edit]

Green Pokeys reappear in Paper Mario: Color Splash under their current name to distinguish them from the yellow Pokeys. They show up alongside yellow Pokeys in the Mustard Café area, and behave as in their previous appearance. A Green Pokey is the first-round opponent in Roshambo Temple #6.
