Mario, this is a Mini Paint Star! Not to worry-this is a good sign! Mini Paint Stars are kind of like... baby Big Paint Stars. So we must be on the right track. Mini Paint Stars will always lead to Big Paint Stars!”
Huey, Paper Mario: Color Splash

Mini Paint Stars are the goal for every level in Paper Mario: Color Splash. Aside from levels with Big Paint Stars, which are found after every Koopaling boss fight (excluding Roy Koopa), every level has at least one Mini Paint Star – some levels do have more, serving as alternate exits. When obtained, they repaint a new area in the world map and unlock a new level. They resemble the comet pieces from Paper Mario: Sticker Star, since both are the goals for their respective games, restore areas, and after getting one of them Mario teleports into an area where coins are falling constantly.

One of them, in Sacred Forest, is scattered into five parts, which need to be gathered and brought together.
