Logo

Super Nintendo World (officially capitalized as SUPER NINTENDO WORLD) is a themed area available in spaces operated by Universal Destinations & Experiences, featuring attractions, products, and themes mainly based on the Super Mario franchise. The area opened in Universal Studios Japan in Osaka on March 18, 2021, and in Universal Studios Hollywood on February 17, 2023, and is set to open in Universal Epic Universe at Universal Orlando on May 22, 2025, and in Universal Studios Singapore in 2025. The slogan of Super Nintendo World in Japan is "#We Are Mario!! アソビの本能、解き放て！ (Asobi no honnō, tokihanate!, Release your play instinct!)"

The Power-Up Bands

While visiting the area, attendees can wear a magnetic wristband known as a "Power-Up Band" (originally unhyphenated), which allows them to interact with various features in the area, compete with other attendees, and keep track of scores and items (such as coins and stamps) earned from such activities. The Power-Up Band also connects to the Super Nintendo World section of the official Universal Studios smartphone applications found on the App Store and Google Play Store, which contain a map of the area and its key locations, and allows the user to view their rankings and add, remove, and edit bands. There are eight different designs of the Power-Up Band, each themed after and featuring the emblem of a Super Mario or Donkey Kong character: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Diddy Kong. A Golden Power-Up Band (featuring Mario's emblem in yellow) has also been created in limited quantities for the second and first anniversaries of Universal Studios Japan's and Universal Studios Hollywood's versions of the park respectively. Power-Up Bands can also be used as amiibo of the characters they represent.

Super Nintendo World is divided into two areas: Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country, themed around the Super Mario franchise and the Donkey Kong Country series respectively. Super Mario Land features a Mario Kart-themed attraction titled Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge and, in Japan and Orlando, a Yoshi-themed attraction titled Yoshi's Adventure. Peach's Castle, Bowser's Castle, and a red Toad House are also present. In regards to decorative features, many Super Mario objects can be seen throughout the area (some of which move, such as coins and Cloud Lifts), though much of the environmental aesthetic is based on that of Super Mario 3D World, including the colored diamond-patterned platforms, Piranha Creeper vine, pyramids from World 2, and most prominently the grassy platforms, which make up a tall mountain-like structure replicating Mount Beanpole, with a Goal Pole on the summit. Animatronics of various Super Mario characters and enemies are also present, including Yoshi and a Thwomp. The area's background music also consists of arrangements of various songs from the Super Mario franchise. Donkey Kong Country, present only in Japan and Orlando and mostly inspired by Donkey Kong Country Returns, features a family roller coaster titled Mine-Cart Madness. DK's Tree House and Funky's Fly 'n' Buy also appear.

The song "We Are Born to Play," performed by Galantis and Charli XCX, was released as a music video to promote the initial launch of Super Nintendo World, which depicts numerous attendees exploring a CGI-animated version of the area with many Super Mario characters and enemies present.

Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan temporarily closed on April 25, 2021, due to a surge in Japanese COVID-19 cases, only one month after the initial opening. It was later reopened on June 1, 2021.

Super Mario Land

Entrance

The entrance to Super Mario Land (which also serves as the entrance to Super Nintendo World) is a large Warp Pipe leading to the foyer of Peach's Castle, which features the sun design on the floor and the cloud pattern on the ceiling, as well as paintings of Bob-omb Battlefield and Tiny-Huge Island from Super Mario 64. An open doorway leads to the area. In Universal Studios Japan, if attendees view the paintings from the doorway, the Bob-omb and the Big Goomba morph into Bowser Jr. holding his magic brush and Peach's Golden Mushroom in his Junior Clown Car. In Universal Studios Hollywood, the paintings change into a scene showing Peach, the Golden Mushroom on a pedestal, and Bowser Jr. in the background, and a scene showing Bowser Jr. stealing the mushroom in his Junior Clown Car. "Inside the Castle Walls" can be heard in the background while inside the castle.

Mount Beanpole

In Super Mario Land, a large land formation referencing Mount Beanpole from Super Mario 3D World can be seen. On Mount Beanpole, a variety of enemies and characters are found, including Yoshi, Thwomps, Koopa Troopas, Goombas, a Goomba Tower, and a Bill Blaster. Also on Mount Beanpole, trees, fruit, Cloud Lifts, Coins, a Warp Pipe, and a variety of blocks are found. In Universal Studios Japan, the entrance and queue area for Yoshi's Adventure is located below Mount Beanpole. On top of Mount Beanpole stands a Goal Pole, bearing a red flag with Mario's emblem.

Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge

Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, known as Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge in Japan and simply referred to as Mario Kart in the Universal Studios Japan app, is an on-rails ride based on the Mario Kart series where attendees race through a course designed by Bowser. It is located inside Bowser's Castle, with attendees joining Team Mario (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, and Yoshi) against Team Bowser (Bowser and the Koopalings). Attendees are seated in vehicles designed after the Standard Karts from Mario Kart 8, with a steering wheel included with each seat. The ride makes use of augmented reality, as attendees are equipped with AR headsets with Mario Caps for the duration of the ride. Attendees travel through different environments modelled after several courses from Mario Kart 8; starting with an area that combines Bowser's Castle and Mario Circuit, followed by 3DS Piranha Plant Slide, Dolphin Shoals, Twisted Mansion, Cloudtop Cruise, Grumble Volcano with the Bowser Monument, and N64 Rainbow Road. The ride lasts for approximately five minutes, and each kart can hold up to four people (two rows of two seats). Riders primarily score by firing shells, color coded to each of the four riders, at other racers and other interactable objects as displayed through their headsets, with the final scores tallied and displayed at the conclusion of the ride.

The foyer of Bowser's Castle features stairs leading up to a large Bowser Statue, while the hall leading to the ride itself features displays of the original eight cups from Mario Kart 8. There is also a large display of the Golden Cup, which is designed after the Universal logo, as well as Bowser's challenge letter that reads:

The queue winds through two storage rooms adorned with various Mario Kart-themed banners and signs, a Mario Kart TV broadcasting room, Bowser's library, a boiler room that serves as a Bob-omb and Mechakoopa factory where attendees are given their AR headsets, and two Mario Kart TV briefing rooms where Lakitu provides a tutorial for the attraction's interactive elements. The Universal Studios Hollywood version of the ride's queue begins with an underground and a ground section based on the Yoshi franchise before entering Bowser's Castle.

Music that plays in the rooms prior to the actual attraction includes the castle theme from New Super Mario Bros. Wii at the stairs, the castle theme from Super Mario World and "A Boss Approaches" from Super Mario 3D World in the trophy hall, Neo Bowser City's theme from Mario Kart 7 in the storage rooms, "Waltz of the Boos" from Super Mario Galaxy in Bowser's library, Mario Kart TV's theme from Mario Kart 8 in the first briefing room, an arrangement of Electrodrome's theme from Mario Kart 8 in the second briefing room, an arrangement of Bowser's Castle's theme from Mario Kart Wii in the area after the briefing rooms, and an arrangement of the main menu theme from Mario Kart Wii in the loading area. In the attraction itself, the raceway theme from Mario Kart 64, arrangements of Piranha Plant Slide's theme from Mario Kart 7, Bowser's Castle's, Dolphin Shoals', Twisted Mansion's and Cloudtop Cruise's themes from Mario Kart 8, and Rainbow Road's theme from Mario Kart 64 play in their respective areas, while Mario Kart Stadium's theme from Mario Kart 8 plays at the finish line. The Super Star theme from Mario Kart Wii also briefly plays during the transition to the Rainbow Road segment.

The Universal Studios Hollywood version occupies the space formerly occupied by Stages 22, 23, and 28.

Yoshi's Adventure

Yoshi's Adventure (only featured at Universal Studios Japan and Epic Universe) is a ride where attendees travel in Yoshi-like vehicles to search for Captain Toad and three "mysterious eggs" using a map. The entrance is a large, yellow Warp Pipe located at the center of Super Mario Land. The ride lasts for approximately five minutes, and each vehicle can hold up to two people.

The ride first transports attendees over a bridge, then into a Warp Pipe tunnel through a scene with two Yoshis carrying Baby Mario and Baby Peach being pursued by Kamek and some Fly Guys, with Poochy nodding his head at passing vehicles at the exit. Additionally, another branching path within the pipe tunnel has a view out into space looking at Starship Mario. Exiting the pipe, the Yoshis arrive in a desert and jungle area, and finally to Captain Toad's location at the end of the jungle. The ride's queuing area features designs and murals from Yoshi's New Island, which would be incorporated into the first section of the Universal Studios Hollywood queue for Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge.

Music that plays in the attraction includes the main level theme from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island in the queuing area, the main theme from Yoshi's Story at the bridge, the opening theme from Yoshi's Island in the tunnel, the desert theme from New Super Mario Bros. Wii in the desert area, and "Captain Toad Goes Forth" from Super Mario 3D World in the jungle area.

Power-Up Band Key Challenges

The Power-Up Band Key Challenges are activities found throughout Super Mario Land that attendees play using the Power-Up Bands to collect keys to help Princess Peach retrieve the Golden Mushroom from Bowser Jr. After collecting three of the five keys, attendees can participate in a boss battle with Bowser Jr. in Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown. The attraction's queue passes through a corridor with a Bowser Jr. statue and several paintings of him. Attendees then reach a room containing Bowser Jr.'s Toy Chest and a block resembling a Baddie Box with Bowser Jr.'s emblem, known as a Bowser Jr. Block, near his Junior Clown Car, the magic brush, a Poison Mushroom, and many more objects. During the attraction, attendees' shadows are projected on a screen and they must swat Parabombs at shadow clones of Bowser Jr. in Junior Clown Cars. Bill Blasters which shoot Bullet Bills also appear during the attraction. Attendees can obtain power-ups such as Super Mushrooms and Super Stars from Flying ? Blocks. During a part of the attraction, attendees need to use Fire Flowers to defeat Koopa Paratroopas and Fire Piranha Plants. After defeating Bowser Jr., attendees jump to reach a Goal Pole and their score is shown. A letter written by Peach is displayed when exiting the attraction that reads:

You were spectacular! Thank you for helping us find the Golden Mushroom. We could not have done it without you.
Peach

Each key is guarded by one of Bowser Jr.'s minions. Attendees hold their Power-Up Band in front of a key reader to start a challenge, and again after they have successfully completed the challenge to claim the key. The challenges include:

1. Goomba Crazy Crank: The key for this challenge is guarded by a Goomba who sits on top of a rolling hill. Guests need to turn the crank fast enough to knock the Goomba off the hill and retrieve the key.
2. Koopa Troopa POWer Punch: The key for this challenge is guarded by a Koopa Troopa. The challenge involves timing the chain-reaction impact of a series of Red POW Blocks to launch a moving Green Shell at a POW Block with the key on top to collect it. The shell moves left to right while passing through an upside-down T-shaped pipe, and the attendee must physically hit a Red POW Block at the right time so the shell passes over the last Red POW Block when it is activated and launches towards the key.
3. Piranha Plant Nap Mishap: The key for this challenge is guarded by a red Piranha Creeper. Guests have to turn off all the ringing alarm clocks to prevent the Piranha Creeper from waking up.
4. Bob-omb Kaboom Room: The key for this challenge is guarded by a Bob-omb. It is located only at Universal Studios Japan at the end of the underground maze, after attendees walk through a passageway that gives them the illusion of being shrunk down. As a result of this, the Bob-omb appears giant. The Underground Theme from Super Mario Bros. plays inside the maze. The challenge involves guests assembling pieces of a key and putting them together on a touch screen before the Bob-omb explodes.
5. Thwomp Panel Panic: The key for this challenge is guarded by a Thwomp. Guests have to turn every Flipswitch Panel on the touch screens from blue to yellow before the Thwomp slams down. Touching one switch can affect others close-by.

One key can also be obtained by spotting an airship using the binoculars in the park.

Mario Motors

Mario Motors storefront

Mario Motors, only featured at Universal Studios Japan and named after the Mario Kart sponsor of the same name, is a gift shop that mostly sells merchandise themed after the Mario Kart series. The music played in the store includes arrangements of the circuit themes from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS and Moo Moo Meadows from Mario Kart Wii. It is located on the far north side of Super Mario Land next to Bowser's Castle.

Toadstool Cafe, known as Kinopio's Cafe in Japan, is a restaurant run by Toads, with a virtual character named Chef Toad acting as the head chef. The restaurant serves various Super Mario-themed dishes and drinks, such as Mario's Bacon Cheeseburger, the Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl, and the ? Block Tiramisu. The main dining area features designs of various Super Mario items on the ceiling, as well as a Warp Pipe and Mushroom display at the center. There are also "windows" in the restaurant showing animated videos of Chef Toad talking to attendees and other Toad chefs preparing food. The foyer of Toadstool Cafe has two Gift Boxes: a small one and a big one. Attendees can use their Power-Up Band to open one, which may contain an item or coins. "Mount Volbono: Town" from Super Mario Odyssey plays inside Toadstool Cafe.

Donkey Kong Country logo

Donkey Kong Country is set to open in Universal Studios Japan on December 11, 2024, and alongside the rest of Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando on May 22, 2025. The area also introduces a Donkey Kong-themed Power-Up Band, which, along with the Super Mario-themed bands, can be used to interact with the KONG Letters found throughout the area. An arrangement of "DK Island Swing" from Donkey Kong Country plays in the area.

Entrance

The entrance to Donkey Kong Country transitions from a brick tunnel to a cave tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, visitors cross a bridge and pass through a circular arch inspired by the Ruins from Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Congas

Three people can participate in a rhythm-based conga activity, with each person operating one pair of congas, where they must hit the congas in time with the lights next to the Rambi Crate above them. When the lights flash rainbow colors, the participants must hit the congas repeatedly, after which an animatronic of Rambi emerges from the crate.

Mine-Cart Madness

Mine-Cart Madness (formatted as Mine Cart Madness in the logo) is a roller-coaster attraction that takes place in the Golden Temple at the back of the area. Murals inspired by those of the temple levels from Donkey Kong Country Returns appear on the walls of the queue area, including one based on 25m from the Donkey Kong arcade game. Further into the queue area, talking animatronics of Cranky Kong and Squawks can be found, with Cranky explaining the narrative of the attraction: visitors board the Mine Cart roller-coasters to chase the Tiki Tak Tribe away from the Golden Temple to protect the Golden Banana. An animatronic of Dixie Kong appears during the actual ride. An arrangement of "Burnin' Bop" from Donkey Kong Country Returns plays in the queue area, while one of "Mine Menace" from the same game plays during the ride.

Characters from the Super Mario franchise are abundant throughout Super Nintendo World. Most of them are animatronics, while others can be found in meet-and-greet areas. The latter kind of characters are mascots of Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad; the latter is present at Universal Studios Hollywood since July 15, 2023. Attendees can choose to have photo opportunities with the Mario Bros. and Peach in Mario & Luigi Photo Opportunity (Japanese: マリオ＆ルイージ・フォト・オポチュニティ, Mario ando Ruīji Foto Opochuniti) and Princess Peach Photo Opportunity (Japanese: プリンセスピーチ・フォト・オポチュニティ, Purinsesu Pīchi Foto Opochuniti) respectively. Unlike the mascots commonly used for the Mario Bros., Super Nintendo World's Mario and Luigi costumes have articulated faces, allowing them to move their eyes and mouths. With the exception of Toad, the mascots have nearby voice samples playing, and the costumes animate and lip-sync with them.

Mascots of Yoshi, Daisy, and Bowser Jr. also appear, but are currently unmeetable. Yoshi debuted in the NO LIMIT! Parade in February 2023 and Daisy in July 2024, while Bowser Jr. debuted in the Super Mario Power-Up Summer stage show in July 2023.

Meet-up characters

Meet-up characters are portrayed by lifelike, electronic suits that are able to display vocal and visual expressions controlled by staff members with the use of tablets. Visitors are able to meet them at the corresponding meet-up locations on the Super Nintendo World map. Standard suits of Mario, Luigi, and Peach are also used in the NO LIMIT! Parade.

Goomba	Small brown mushroom creatures who serve as some of Bowser's lower-class minions. Many Goombas are found walking on platforms and Mount Beanpole. Visitors can battle a Goomba in Goomba Crazy Crank and receive a key upon the Goomba's defeat.

Koopa Troopa	Turtle-like enemies who serve as some of Bowser's lower-class minions. Koopa Troopas appear throughout the scenery of Super Nintendo World. Visitors can battle a Koopa Troopa in Koopa Troopa POWer Punch and receive a key upon the Koopa Troopa's defeat.
Koopa Paratroopa	A winged red Koopa Troopa. Appears in Yoshi's Adventure.
Shy Guy	Red-robed enemies with white masks bearing blank faces. Found amongst the scenery of Super Nintendo World.
Fly Guy	Flying Shy Guys with blue propellers attatched to their heads. They are found in Yoshi's Adventure near Kamek and Pink Yoshi.
Piranha Plant	Plant-like enemies bearing teeth that emerge from pipes. Found in many places throughout the scenery.
Piranha Creeper	Large Piranha Plants with long, spike-covered stems. Visitors can battle a Piranha Creeper in Piranha Plant Nap Mishap and receive a key upon putting the Piranha Creeper to sleep.
Pokey	Yellow cactus enemies with green spikes. Found in Yoshi's Adventure and moving across desert areas in the scenery of Super Nintendo World.
Conkdor	A large bird enemy that attacks passersby with its beak. Appears in Yoshi's Adventure.
Thwomp	Large grey stone block enemies who fall in an attempt to crush passersby. Two Thwomp designs appear in Super Nintendo World: one bearing spikes which come to points, and the other bearing spikes which are dulled at the ends.
Bob-omb	Sentient bomb-like enemies created by Bowser. Bob-ombs are found in the queue of Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, where their building process is shown in a factory-themed area along with Bullet Bills and Mechakoopas. Bob-ombs also appear in the underground area in Universal Studios Japan.
giant Bob-omb	A large Bob-omb. Visitors can battle a giant Bob-omb in Bob-omb Kaboom Room and receive a key upon the Bob-omb's defeat.

Many objects and obstacles are present in Super Nintendo World as decoration or interactive objects that closely resemble, or are directly modeled after, those existing in the Super Mario franchise.

Blocks

Block	Description
? Block	Common, yellow, electronic blocks marked with white "?" symbols that can be punched from below. When punched, visitors with Power-Up Bands will be rewarded a few coins until the block runs empty.
Long ? Block	Horizontally longer variants of ? Blocks. When punched, visitors with Power-Up Bands will be rewarded more coins than a normal ? Block until the block runs empty.
Brick Block	Common blocks made of brown bricks. When punched, the block produces a crumbling sound effect.
POW Block	A blue, shockwave-emitting block that is present in the Koopa Troopa POWer Punch challenge. The POW Block is activated once a chain reaction of three Red POW Blocks reaches it.
Red POW Block	Red and yellow variant of POW Blocks. Red POW Blocks play an important role in the Koopa Troopa POWer Punch challenge, in which they create a three-block chain reaction to activate a normal POW Block once the first block is punched.
Note Block	White blocks marked with black music notes. Six Note Blocks are present at Note Block Rock. When punched, they each emit different musical notes. If punched in the right order, hidden themes from the Super Mario franchise will play. For each hidden theme discovered, visitors with Power-Up Bands will earn a stamp on the official Universal Studios smartphone application.
Bowser Jr. Block	A glowing, green block marked with Bowser Jr.'s emblem. Only one Bowser Jr. Block is present in every Super Nintendo World within the queue for Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown. When punched, the block glows brighter and activates a small gust of air.

In-app Stamp Collection

Stamps are digital collectibles that are earned by participating in activities around Super Nintendo World. They are obtained with a Power-Up Band linked to the Super Nintendo World section of the official Universal Studios smartphone application. There are a total of 170 stamps to collect, (131 in Universal Studios Hollywood).

Entertainment

Japan

On March 1, 2023, the NO LIMIT! Parade was introduced, which includes an unit based on the Mario Kart series. During the park's 2023 "NO LIMIT! Summer" event, a special stage show titled Super Mario Power-Up Summer was showcased within the park's "New York" area. A competition known as the PLAY WILD! Challenge was held in February and March 2024 to promote the park and the Donkey Kong Country expansion.

Development

A partnership between Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts to open a Nintendo theme park area in Universal Studios Japan, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Universal Orlando was first announced on November 29, 2016. On December 12, 2016, Super Nintendo World was officially announced by name, scheduled to open first in Japan in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

On June 8, 2017, construction on the first Super Nintendo World began when Universal Studios Japan held a groundbreaking ceremony, which was attended by Shigeru Miyamoto, Universal Studios Japan CEO J. L. Bonnier, and Universal Creative president Mark Woodbury. A Mario Kart-themed attraction was announced in the ceremony, while a teaser trailer for Super Nintendo World was released the same day. That same year, Universal Studios Hollywood demolished Stages 22-25 to make room for its version of the area (another soundstage whose footprint the area occupies, the Phantom Stage, had been demolished three years prior).

On April 3, 2019, Super Nintendo World was announced for Universal Studios Singapore by Resorts World Sentosa.

During an interview with Universal Parks & Resorts CEO Tom Williams held on September 12, 2019, Williams announced that Super Nintendo World in Japan would open in spring 2020, and that the Mario Kart ride and a Yoshi ride would be featured in the first phase. Williams also revealed information about a magnetic wristband that attendees would wear and would be used to track scores gained through rides and interactions in the area.

The smartphone application being demonstrated

On January 14, 2020, Universal Studios Japan held a "global kick-off presentation event" where many details regarding Super Nintendo World were announced, including the opening now being scheduled for Summer 2020, more details on the function of the wristband (now named the "Power Up Band"), the wristband designs, and the smartphone application. The music video for "We Are Born to Play" was also released the same day.

During a Q4 earnings conference held on January 23, 2020, Comcast executives confirmed that Super Nintendo World in Universal Orlando would be part of the upcoming Epic Universe theme park scheduled to open in 2023. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was delayed indefinitely. Also as a result of the pandemic, the opening date for Super Nintendo World in Japan was pushed back by a few months.

On October 7, 2020, Super Nintendo World in Japan was announced to open in Spring 2021. In addition, a Mario Café & Store was revealed and announced to open outside of the area on October 16, 2020, ahead of its opening. The exact opening date of February 4 was later announced on November 30, 2020.

On December 18, 2020, Nintendo released the Super Nintendo World Direct. Hosted by Miyamoto, the video toured various parts of the park, including the entrance based off of Peach's Castle, an underground area with Bob-ombs, and Bowser's Castle, as well as 1-UP Factory and Kinopio's Cafe and the merchandise and food offered. It also showed how Power-Up Bands are used to interact with activities in the park.

On January 14, 2021, the opening was postponed to an unspecified later date as a result of a state of emergency in place in Osaka due to COVID-19. On March 8, 2021, the final opening date was revealed to be March 18, 2021.

On September 28, 2021, Nintendo announced that a new Donkey Kong Country-themed area would be added to the Universal Studios Japan version of the area, expanding the size of Super Nintendo World by approximately 70%. The area, named Donkey Kong Country (Japanese: ドンキーコング・カントリー), was previously set to open in the spring of 2024 before it was delayed to late 2024. The expansion will feature new Donkey Kong-themed attractions including Mine Cart Madness (Japanese: ドンキーコングのクレイジー・トロッコ), merchandise, and Power-Up Band designs based on Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong.

On January 30, 2024, Nintendo previewed the first images of the Universal Orlando Resort version of the area.

• Paintings identical to those in Super Mario 64 can be found hanging in Peach's Castle, displaying art resembling Bob-omb Battlefield and Tiny-Huge Island.
• In the library area of Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, many books appear in stacks and on bookshelves referencing various characters and locations from the Super Mario franchise. • In the Toadstool Cafe, the decor of the dining areas is mostly based on the Toad House areas from New Super Mario Bros. U and Super Mario 3D World
• In the waiting area for the Toadstool Cafe, there are several screens in rows and columns on a single wall, displaying various menu items on offer. Their layout and transition animation are a direct callback to the Power-up Panels minigame from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
• Only in the Hollywood iteration of Super Nintendo World, the queue areas before Bowser's Castle leading to Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge are a reference to Yoshi's New Island, including rooms referencing the levels Little Eggs, Big Eggs, Cave of the Nipper Plants, Fort Bucket Booby Trap, and Bouncy Beanstalk Walk.
• In the Toadstool Cafe, the trash and recycle bins in the dining areas have Banana item designs from the Mario Kart series on the front, similar to the wet floor signs seen outdoors.
• In the 1-UP Factory, several details including the fans, arrow signs and meters all resemble those from the Bob-omb Factory board from Mario Party 9.
• In the section of the Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge queue themed to a Mario Kart TV studio, several sponsors from Mario Kart 8 can be spotted, including Galaxy Air, Bullet Bill Speed Trail, 1-UP Fuel, Lemmy's Tire Service, Green Shell Taxi, and Mushroom Piston Engines. Additionally, many of these sponsor logos are available as signs, pins, and other replica memorabilia within the park.
• In the library area of Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, a book titled Surviving Rainbow Road is open on one of the planning tables. It shows the map of Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 8, despite the ride itself using N64 Rainbow Road as its finale.
• In the library area of Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, a book titled Inside Story can be spotted. This is a reference to Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, a game in which Bowser himself plays a major role.
• At Princess Peach's gazebo, the queue line posts leading to the meet-and-greet are in the shape of the Life-Up Heart item from Super Mario Odyssey.
• Only in the Osaka iteration of Super Nintendo World, the walkway leading up to the park entrance features what appear to be high scores in the font of the original Super Mario Bros. game. However, these scores are actually the release year and month of various Mario titles in chronological order, including Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Odyssey, and Super Mario Maker 2. At the end of this walkway, the final score is a reference to the opening year and month of Super Nintendo World itself, March 2021.
