Clothing is a category of items in the Mario & Luigi series that act much like Armor in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Clothing mainly exists to boost defense power, but some clothes boost other stats such as speed, attack, and others as well. The first two games in the series have overalls as clothing, but Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story features an expanded set of clothing that also includes gloves, socks, boots, and accessories for Mario and Luigi and shells, arm bands, rings, and fangs for Bowser. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team further expands on this by adding hammer as a type of wear.

Clothing in this game can also come with special effects. If a small number is listed in the last column, look at the end of the table for the special effect. All Clothing adds HP and/or DEF to a brother.
Clothing is found usually in various specialty shops, but defeated enemies can sometimes drop clothing.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
For Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, the clothing system received an overhaul. In this game, there are several different clothing types available. These include overalls, gloves, socks, boots, and accessories for the Mario Bros, and shells, arm bands, rings, and fangs for Bowser. The maximum number of articles of clothing that a character may equip is dependent on rank – it maxes out at three, but two of the same type of clothing can never be equipped simultaneously. Since the function of badges has also been overhauled, most of badges' old functions are now applied to articles of clothing.

"Giant Shell" redirects here. If you were looking for Gargantua Koopa Troopa shells, see Giant Red Shell and Giant Green Shell.

Clothing is found usually in various specialty shops, but defeated enemies can sometimes drop clothing.
